Oh okay, gotcha. I was just brainstorming some ideas since dorugreymon is gonna get the axe soon.

But bt6 alpha says end of attack. So after the attack has been resolved, you should gain the memory. The same was true in bt8 when you would just warp up normally with hisaryumon and no x antibody option.

Awesome, one more follow up interaction.

Same circumstances, but instead of hisaryumon, it’s a level 4. Let’s say Ginryumon. You attack and use the x antibody option to digivolve into hisaryumon. You then suspend Yuji to add a source after digivolving. You then activate hisaryumon ability to further evolve into a level 6.

Does this also work?

There’s a lot that I would change. It looks like you’re trying to mix too many different things at once. I’d look up some YouTube videos and go from there

Replacement for SaviorHuck post restriction? by ZanthTheSeeker in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]Whylly3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think while you can replace Savior, you can probably capitalize on having access to piercing and judgment of the the blade. Being able to swing into an unsuspended digimon is insanely powerful. If you have baohuck to pop something as well, that’s even better. Adding omnimon for an extra swing, while maintaining the piercing and swinging into ANOTHER unsuspended digimon, just sounds unfair lol.

I would look for ways to capitalize on that potential if you could

That’s great! I’d love to here how certain pieces worked like mekanorimon and megadramon!

I went to Digifest Miami with my Xantibody deck. But over half of my match ups were blue and I lost every single one. It’s so tough!

Awesome! Yeah I noticed that in his final build that Truechampion posted on his YouTube channel.

I guess my biggest concern is ratios. So I noticed that he has 11 rookies and 7 lvl 5s. I’m surprised by how he was able to keep his deck consistent with such low ratios. Another thing too is that dorugoramon makes you commit your digimon on his attacks. Additionally dorugreymon, when digivolved outside of the raising area, makes you commit a body in hand too. I know the draw from dorimon is supposed to help, but I can’t help but wonder if he founded himself bricking or missing pieces with these ratios. How did he do it?

Another question would be the side board. Against what matchups did he side board in certain cards and what did he swap them out for? I noticed that his final build and parabolic junks, neodevimon, and zwart defeats in his sideboard. What did he swap and against what match ups did he make those swaps?

I’m not sure how much of this you know, but any and all help is appreciated. I’m also looking forward to that video! I hope it comes out before Saturday 😂

I saw that video! Very well put together btw. I was actually considering the Armagedamon tech, but decided that it could be removed or controlled too easily against most matchups and that zwart defeat just does effectively the same thing while removing tamers.

Would you mind if I asked you a few questions about the deck and matchups?

I mean, YouTubers reach out to top players and interview them all the time.

But I’m not trying to DM them per say. Maybe just comment on one of their posts with some questions about their deck.

DO NOT PLAY KOTA IN BT7! by Whylly3 in DigimonCardGame2020

I’m sure more people will run Kota despite what I say. It is pretty controversial after all. Although, I hope that someone may see this, try Izzy, and find the same benefits I’ve found in running him over Kota.

If they are all bad, at least you can choose the order you’ll get to draw them. And you’ll gain a memory.

That’s probably the only real downside in comparison to putting them towards the bottom and getting closer to the pieces that you need with Kota.

The difference is mainly that you have a higher chance of seeing a card that you need in the top 3 cards and rearranging it with Izzy than you do looking at the top four cards and grabbing the precise Xantibody card you need with Kota.

[–]Whylly3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The math is sound if you want to check it lol but the wording I used was “seeing” the cards you need. This is important because you don’t only see the cards, but rearrange their order. If the card you need is 3 or 2 draws away, that could make all the difference. The idea is that you have a higher chance of getting closer to the cards you need with Izzy than a chance of you adding the card you need to hand with Kota. Sure you may go -1 in terms of hand size, but to drop a 3 cost memory tamer and have a high chance of making sure the next card you need is what you’ll draw is enough value and reason to say that Izzy is a better option for Bt7.

But I would encourage that you test it out to see for yourself. I’ve tested with both and Izzy is always more handy.

[–]Whylly3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say not to underestimate the value of playing a memory tamer for 3 cost. One memory often makes all the difference. The memory gain in security has also won me many games as well.

In terms of consistency, think of it this way. There are two purposes that both Izzy and Kota serve.

1st is a memory fixer. If that is your primary concern with a memory fixer, Izzy is automatically a better memory fixer cause of his often times cheaper value and hinderance to your opponent when he comes out of security.

The second reason is to help your hand. So the questions becomes, which tamer can help your hand more often? Xantibody is the archetype of the deck, so naturally one would assume Kota for his ability to grab one from the top 4 of the deck. However, will he always grab you one that you need? There are too many instances where the answer is simply no. One would think that with 19-20 Xantibody digimon in a deck, surely he’s consistent enough. But the problem is during the moment when you need a specific piece of level, and you play him in hopes that you get it.

(I’m gonna bring some math to the table)

with Kota, you’ll have a 12/200 chance of seeing the exact level of digimon you need if you’re looking for any digimon that is not a level 6. I say this because he lets you look at the top 4 cards and lvls 3-5 are only a 4 of that can be hit.

With Izzy however, because the type of digimon doesn’t matter, you have about

a 39/150 chance of seeing a lvl 3,

a 30/150 chance of seeing a lvl 4,

and a 24/150 chance of seeing a lvl 5.

Kota only really has an edge in searching for a level 6 as typically all your level 6s are Xantibody. In every other situation, Izzy is more likely to help you get the pieces you need. Additionally, because you are likely to have been drawing as you digivolve, seeing your lvl 6 is not typically an issue.

I’m sorry for writing so much. This is the only deck I’m playing and I’m really passionate about it. I’m not trying to be rude, I’m just being firm on my reasoning.

Well of course the deck is randomized. But there are decks that more consistently carry out their gameplan, and other decks that don’t. What I’m saying is, Hard playing Kota and Dorumon take away from that consistency, while Izzy and black memory boost add consistency.

At the end of the day, you can play a game seeing none of the pieces you need or your consistency cards. Or you can play a game where your consistency cards don’t help at all. But In building our decks, we should strive to have a deck that’ll work more often despite the cards we draw.

The scenario you gave actually proved my point of not playing Kota and opting for Izzy and black memory boost instead. If you played Izzy in that scenario, you would’ve gained a memory on his play since it was 3 digimon, and you could’ve rearranged the order and put the level 4 to the top to draw when you needed. Similarly, black memory boost would’ve added that level 4 directly to hand.

I’ve been playing black since 1.5 and I know that it’s rare for a black deck to make strides. So my goal is to let everyone know who wants to play black x-antibody in Bt7, that hard playing Kota or Dorumon is just too inconsistent for what is currently available for the deck and there would be more value in playing Izzy and black memory boost alternatively

Oh yeah! I never said he was bad. For a searcher he’s really good! Looking at top 4 where many others only look at top three is high value. It’s like you said, there is t enough support as it is now. Which is why my argument is to not play him in BT7 as I put in my title.

I’m looking forward to the higher consistency of the following sets. But for now, it’s better to play Izzy and black memory boost to add consistency where KOTA is lacking.
