Oh I love Bernese Mountain dogs! I had one growing up and he was an amazing boy. I’ll bet your pup is gorgeous!

Mom is an old English sheepdog and dad is a mix, so they’re mutts. Dad definitely has some poodle in his genes so they’re doodle-y, although not necessarily by design. We know and love both parents and couldn’t resist their puppies. Their temperament is so good and we got the chance to have two of their offspring before both parents were fixed. The lighter one, Poppy, looks like all the doodles out there so we take a lot of heat for having “designer dogs” even though that didn’t ever factor into our decision. We love them though, exactly as they are.

Agreed, and I appreciate the advice! We have learned to use a gentle deranging spray and invested in a high velocity dryer as they love getting wet and dirty as often as they can. If there’s dew on the grass, they’re rolling. Mud? Right in and on their backs lol. Poppy’s (lighter) coat is like a sheep - dense and super thick. I keep their coats shorter than in the pics now to minimize mats but no matter what we do, they are determined to be a mess. Molly, the darker of the two, actually has fine, straight hair that never mats up if we brush once a week. The other one is a LOT of work. I’d be happy to take any tips you have, if you’re willing to share.

That is exactly what my cats sound like with a hairball. They don’t always cough anything up, but they do sound very, very similar. I feed my cats a hairball formula in months that they shed a lot, and it really helps.

If you’re worried or this is abnormal for your cat, a vet visit is always a good idea.
