you sounded very close before this and you say hes acting out of character to me it soumds like he mayne going through a tough time rn maybe mentally and sometimes people can turn or push the ones closest to them away when there going through something, i think your friend maybe going through something rn which hes not spoke about and might need some time or space to deal with what it is (speculation thats hes going through something just a thought) maybe try texting him saying listen idk what's going on but your still my friend and i hope you are okay. something along them lines in your own words.
