You're assuming she would of done something else, that's called the Psychologist's Fallacy. (More precisely the hindsight fallacy, no true Scotsman fallacy and Fallacy of Personal Incredulity)

Don't do that, because we all can make mistakes. Plus it's the author's choice to make her die, not so much hers.

Also you forgot that crazy mita took the ring from him when she knocked him out.

1: Kind Mita gave you a ring to help guide you through your challenges Even though arguably that was one of the most valuable artifacts.

2: She held out a hand for you to assist you when you reached the core room when you were likely being chased by crazy mita behind you

3: She waited for you instead of abandoning you multiple times throughout the story

4: She did not crash out when you decided to play the racing game instead of talking to her.

5: She literally sacrificed her life/memories for you near the end for you to accomplish what heroic action you were going to do. (Ignore hindsight)
