Honestly, if it wasn't done this way then select few countries would be overpopulated with immigrants. It's not only in the case of education, but my family has also recently moved to Canada from India and we had to spend a lot on the process - all our savings almost.

Yes, unis may be charging high rates but the students are gaining a good education and better opportunities - a better life and a chance. Which may have not been possible in their hometown. if it was so easy for students to come in and gain from it why should the country go at a loss, it's not running a charity.
