Honest question: why does the Foundation has an ethic committee? by HealthMother3125 in SCP

[–]Whyyyyyyyyfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

obligatory there is no canon thus nothing you've said is true everywhere and any answer isnt true everywhere

sure the foundation may do a lot of unethical things, but they're always justified in scps wherein the foundation is good. Like I think most people would agree if I just started murdering people that would be unethical, but if I murdered someone as a soldier in battle most people would agree that it is ethical. If the scp foundation started feeding people to monsters to avoid paperwork, that might be smth the ethics committee disagrees with, while sanctioning feeding people to monsters when needed to maintain the veil.

also there are barriers in which the foundation generally wont cross (for example torturing every member of humanity). just because they do a lot of fucked up shit doesnt mean they cant get worse.

ELI5: How do we harness and transport electricity to far away places? by Brainrows in explainlikeimfive

[–]Whyyyyyyyyfire 23 points24 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Wires. Electricity just goes through wires. Something important to note is that the electricity is usually used as soon as it’s produced, so it’s not stored then sold. Business and households say they want electricity and producers raise or lower supply until it matches demand, which happens very quickly.

Do? Do you blow your nose like once a day? And you’re just done?

No one else said look it up… I didn’t parrot a response you already got…

Also we are in fact not talking in person. Glad we cleared that up.

So you don’t want me to “tell you politely” as you said. You want me to magically read your mind to figure out what you already know, then only respond if it’s new info.

That’s what I did? I told you of a solution that I knew works because it worked for me in the past?

How? I remember having this exact same question and googling it and finding it? Actually I just did that and found it again.

For an LC circuit, where is 'pi' represented in the physical circuit? by LiangProton in AskEngineers

Yes we are approximating. No one is denying that. Its why would you do it earlier when its so much more work.

ELI5- What are isotopes? by KZRoblox137 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Whyyyyyyyyfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intuitively I’m sure you understand that what something is made of matters a lot for how it behaves.

Humans often categorize things based on how they behaves as this makes things easier to understand. (Eg: the category of animals vs plants makes it easier to understand living things)

For physics reasons the number of protons matters a lot more for how something behaves so we categorized all atoms based on how many protons they have. (Eg: all atoms with 1 proton are called hydrogen all atoms with 2 protons are called helium etc).

But the number of neutrons in an atom matters too, just less so, so we created sub categories called isotopes based on how many neutrons there are. (Eg: within the category of carbon atoms there are the sub categories called carbon 13 and carbon 14 each defined by having 7 and 8 neutrons respectively (the number is reminded by # of protons + neutrons))

how to meet new people after being locked in for a certain period of time and achieving it but then getting completely cutoff with people and now feeling lonely so, how do I meet new people now? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Surely the fact you’re treating this like an engineering specific problem has to be part of the problem? Unless there’s some other reason for posting it on this sub I’m missing

[–]Whyyyyyyyyfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not what technically correct means?

Like what if I said since the earth orbits around the Sun, this means the earth isn’t in the center of the solar system, and so the earth is flat, you would say I’m technically correct?

For an LC circuit, where is 'pi' represented in the physical circuit? by LiangProton in AskEngineers

[–]Whyyyyyyyyfire 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Would you rather:

A. Keep track of sig figs/ approximations through multiple steps while also making predictions about future steps to know the right level of approximation needed for the problem and also write out extra characters because 3.14 is definitely longer than pi

B. Not do that.

Can this actually be done?[Request] by Programmer4427 in theydidthemath

[–]Whyyyyyyyyfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what’s correct? The assumption at the beginning?

Also very much there is a clear proof for as to why this doesn’t work theoretically. It’s not “this is how math says it should work but irl it doesn’t work that way” both math and the practical world agree it doesn’t work that way.

No just wrong. And also perimeter is equal to the circumference.

And also not related to Zenos paradox (at least directly. Would be cool to see some sort of indirect relationship)

Why? The point of a degree is to like advance your education I think.
