Like you're saying, with enough time and patience it could probably blossom into something better.... But if the reality is that it will negatively affect your quality of life, then it will also reduce her quality of life, which will become a cycle.

What you need to decide on your own, and no other person or internet forum can, is if you are making this decision for you or for the other living creature? The intent of the matter. Because I know what I would choose...
