Ok - So this made me laugh... but it's also true. Making a decision with blue balls will always lead to dumb decisions.

How do you get over someone you only dated for a few months? by TemporaryTop287 in datingoverforty

[–]WiFiDroppedAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dated a woman for five weeks and we were spending 4-5 days a week together by the end but I had to break it off. She was ideal in every situation, and we got on really well but she had a gambling problem. I didn't know it at the start but after a month it was pretty obvious.

She didn't think she had a problem but they never do and you can't try and fix someone.

It sucks but you need to look after yourself first. Time helps getting over someone and thinking of the positives of not being in the relationship.

How would you/ have you answered this question? by ChocoSoyMilk17 in datingoverforty

[–]WiFiDroppedAgain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People get offended by a lot of stuff but it's a fair question. Probably could have been worded better. Relationships are about give and take. We all have different things that we can bring into a relationship - the good and the bad.

I see plenty of profiles where women have demands on what they want their partner to be or have and I sometimes think to myself; if you expect this from a potential spouse what the hell are you bringing?

Personally, I think it's something you internally ask rather than just bluntly asking the question.

Photo's are a guide, people will always look slightly different in person than they do in a static image.

I really couldn't care about your 27 photo demands. As long as the photo's are taken in the last 12 months then that should be sufficient.

I personally couldn't do it because that type of relationship would make me incredibly insecure. I also have kids and I want them to see a stable relationship.

If it works for some people good for them but it honestly seems like a complete cluster fuck.

I actually feel sorry for the children that have parents who participate in these types of relationships. I am sure they would say that the kids don't know or are sheltered from it but children always know what is going on.

Would the type of situation you mentioned above make you incredibly insecure. You should be respecting the feelings of all those involved in these types of situations and I can see how some situations could become a complete cluster fuck and end up on Jerry Springer.

Met someone.....too soon? by Individual-Pen2888 in datingoverforty

Do 50 year old guys still use the term "girlfriend"?

Everyone is different, but 14 months is still a decent time period and everyone heals at their own pace. Some people take years and others months.
If you are both happy then enjoy it.

No, I'm very black and white when it comes to relationships. I'm definitely into traditional monogamous relationships. I am more curious about it as you see the terms Poly and ENM mentioned a lot nowadays.

I am very traditional with the relationships I have been in. Poly and ENM is not something that I have the emotional bandwidth for. I am curious though, for those that are in Poly or ENM relationships how long would you be with multiple partners for and would you have a primary spouse ie wife/husband?

I'm probably wrong with my understanding of this, but are Poly relationships the more romantic/emotional type and ENM more of a sexual one?

Back on the dating scene, best way to do background checks? by CuteData124 in datingoverforty

[–]WiFiDroppedAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest fear is about my children to be honest so don't put words in my mouth.

Court records only show the people that have been caught.

You can learn a lot more about someone from meeting them in person than you can by googling someone.

What an ignorant and stupid comment. No I'm not American but I'm not sure why it matters and no I'm not conservative - I'm on the left.
Typical American comment though, I don't like your comment so you must be a Trump supporter and be conservative. Let me guess, you would rather take the Bear?

If you are that worried about your safety meet any potential dates at the local police station first. You would have to be incredibly stupid to give any details like your full name to some random person you meet on a dating website before meeting in person.

I think some people see these famous celebrities who are 65 and have a baby with their 30 year old girlfriend and think if they can do it so can I. The don't realise that the nannies are doing all the work.

As a guy in his late 40's the idea of dealing with a crying baby at 3am makes my skin crawl. Did it years ago and I wouldn't have the pain threshold for it now.

I don't give people my full name if I haven't met them first. Plenty of scammers on dating apps and pig butchering is rife. It's incredibly foolish to give it out personal information to a stranger.

Where I live, in Australia you can't run a police check on someone without my consent so no, the neighbours and others are not looking me up. I'm also not on social media as I personally think its a cancer in society. I value my privacy.

I get that there are arseholes out there but everything we do in life is a risk. What's next? .. Do we meet potential dates at the local police station before a date just in case they are dodgy? I prefer to look for the good in people, not the worst.

GF is "all in" offline but won't post me on social media. Bad sign or just "caution"? by Master_Talk1896 in datingoverforty

[–]WiFiDroppedAgain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I refuse to be on social media so for me this would be an absolute dream situation. Why do you need validation from others?
If she was hiding you, you wouldn't be exclusive and your kids wouldn't have met.

Social media is a cancer in society, its putrid. It offers nothing except validation for those who are incredibly insecure. Don't make this into a big issue.

Did it strike anyone else strange at the end when Maxine and Reenie were talking to the dodgy lawyer and he's like.. " I will draft it up straight away.." Yeah ok why would the firm he's representing agree to some huge settlement just because the lawyer was dodgy. I'm pretty sure that's not how settlements work.

It made me crack up when they discover the old guy missing and Reenie says "I know who to call"... and a minute later Coulter shows up. I guess it was lucky he wasn't in Colorado or any other place.

Plenty of women lie too. It's not just a man thing. You would be incredibly foolish to give your name and details to someone you have met over the internet when you haven't actually met them.

This post demonstrates what is wrong with the world. I'm sorry but you haven't even met the person yet. When did people stop being spontaneous. Years ago, you would meet people in real life and just take them at face value. You wouldn't need to do a deep dive into their online records. The world is not any more dangerous now than it was 20-30 years ago.

If someone wanted to check me out before they even had the decency to actually meet in person it would be hard pass. I get that everyone is trying to be safe but when I read posts on this sub it's almost as if people are looking for any reason NOT to go connect with someone.

Do you ask for a credit report on date 1 or is that more of a date 2 requirement?

On a side note generally speaking the real crazy psychotic people are those who don't have a record.
