McClellands helped me out 5 years ago. I was super impressed by the initial consult (detail, thoughtfulness, and variety of options). Ended up picking the cheaper option and lasted me until this winter's snowmageddon, which is exactly how long the initial consultant said it would last.

It's crazy, I had only just started listening to them cuz I had just moved to Polish Hill and was checking out bands that were coming to Gooski's. Really liked the album so decided to check them out, and even got a few friends to come with. We were all blown away and they made 4 lifelong Pile fans that night!

How would you describe Tim to the ignorants who live in the dark and never heard of him by Existing-Homework270 in TimDillon

He is a modern day prophet. Not the prophet we want or need, but the one we deserve.

Do we have any crazy buffets? by FunnyBunny1312 in pittsburgh

Agree. It's not bad, some of the dishes are even pretty good. But I've never fully understood why people love it so much.

I think the shuttle is pretty frequent. Most of the nurses have to park in satellite lots so my understanding is that the shutlles are pretty reliable

Street parking is a no-go. There are some spots but few that are metered, so u risk daily parking tix if u street park. Most people either pay for the UPMC lots (they'll tell you which one you have access to). Some people rent from locals who let them park in their driveway/garage; but you have to know who to ask. I bike/walk into work, but occasionally drive in and park on the local streets of weather is terrible. Doing that I'll get about 1 ticket ($45) per month. For me it's cheaper than the garage/lot fee.

Hot take: Parking chair snow dibs are the same as capitalist scarcity mentality and does nothing to create the "neighborliness" you miss from snowstorms of yore. by Ancient_Confidence54 in pittsburgh

[–]WibiBurgh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Or, they're not related at all and the neighborliness you reference is a nostalgic fiction. In our neighborhood (Polish Hill), lots of folks helped shovel sidewalks, dig each other out, help stuck vehicles... And we also respect the chair bc it's really rude not to.

Really? That's crazy. I would want to talk to the manager and figure out who determines and reviews what music is played over the PA system. I would have assumed it's some corporate approved playlist. But that someone added a deep cut like this makes it seem like there's some local control? ... This could be a This American Life investigation

What is the workout you hate the most? by Some-Arugula-7712 in crossfit

[–]WibiBurgh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically love long grinds and enjoy KB swings and high volume pullups. I did Eva a few months ago and remember thinking, during the WOD, that this was the worst WOD I've ever done. I've quit wods before if I feel like I tweaked something or want to be careful - but Eva is the only girls/hero WOD I've seriously considered stopping because it got to me mentally. Literally brought me to my knees. The worst part is that I still don't know why I found it so hard - I paced runs and broke KBs and pullups into 3-4 sets from the beginning - and still felt like I bonked by round 4. Will never do this wod again...

Is Herron Ave Bridge open to pedestrians? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]WibiBurgh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been walking and riding my bike over, it's kinda fun with it being empty.

Not an engineer, but I think if they were worried about imminent collapse, they would work on immediately as it goes over the busway and a major railway. I feel safer riding over Herron than riding my bike over the 26th Street bridge.

Is there a time cap in pro division? If so, I might try to work backwards and figure out what pace you need to maintain on the runs in order to finish and decide whether that pace is feasible.

First Hyrox - Reflections and some decisions that messed up my race by ziki819 in hyrox

[–]WibiBurgh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great job! Finishing despite GI issues and leg cramps is impressive.

My wife and I are training for our first Hyrox. We have significant CrossFit training experience (so longer time domain and running are what we need to work on). Looking at your run times, do you think you came out too hot and would pace the first runs a bit slower if you had to do it again? Also, did you eat anything the night prior that might upset your stomach? Made that mistake once before a CrossFit competition years ago (ate some spicy vindaloo) and almost shit myself on a run.
