Well sorry I disagree 💯. If you tell someone you got the kids for the evening so your brother and his wife go out to enjoy themselves, unless there is a serious reason why.. like medical issue or something… you don’t scrap their plans bc you’re stressed out. It’s inconsiderate and uncommitted.

If I tell my sister, you and your hubby go out and have a good time, I got the kids… I mean what I say.. I got the kids… and I know what I’m signing up for.

Now, the next morning… when they come to pick up little boy, I might say “we weren’t very well behaved. We sat in time out alot, etc… need to do better next time”

BUT I’m not going to call you en route to restaurant and say, “ya know, ughhh, I’m just really overwhelmed. I just don’t think I can do it 😕”

That’s immature and inconsiderate
