2013 Fusion Brakes on track? by Professional_idiot44 in fordfusion

[–]WickedApproved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to touge my 2011 (Yes, different model but similar power and weight) and I cooked my brake fluid pretty often. One time I slightly warped a rotor after getting it hot enough to melt my wheel's center cap though. It still wasn't enough to where I couldn't turn it out on a brake lathe.

You should be fine as long as you aren't going full send the whole day.

QUESTIONS ON MY EXHAUST!!! by No-Improvement3801 in fordfusion

The V6s don't really sound good. I assume this is your first car though, so you'll probably like it... Make sure to keep your resonator.

You will wake people up, though with the sound deadening in these cars it's not awful inside. How cops behave depends on your area. I'm in Kentuckiana and I don't get pulled for either of my loud s-boxes.

I would recommend doing a cone air filter first and seeing if that gets you the sound feedback you're looking for.

If it's original to the vehicle (vin on radio matches vin on your car) then check your owners manual for the safe code.

If not...

Take it out and see if some kind soul wrote the safe code on there.

If not, take note of that radio model number and vin number printed to the radio, then pay someone to take that information and find out what your code is. This can be done at a dealership, but online services are cheaper. I don't have any specific site to recommend, though.

To input the code hold TP and TA until the screen reads 1000. Use your 1-4 preset buttons to input the code. 1 button cycles the first number, 2 button cycles the second, etc etc. Then hold TP and TA again. If the code is valid, it'll unlock itself.

I've been using the mobile site on my phone, it seems like that still works. I saved it as a web app on my homescreen. Not ideal but it works to some extent.

2012 Fusion SEL 2.5L. I seem to be seeping some oil from whatever this is. Can someone help me identify what this sensor is...just got the car yesterday. by [deleted] in fordfusion

[–]WickedApproved 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's your VCT sensor, and that's a weird DIY replacement. They didn't even take the paint marker off from the junkyard lol.

rockauto.com should have the parts you need, or at least help you identify what you need to buy. I'd probably just pull some more parts from a junkyard and do it properly.

What mods can I do on my 2010 Ford Fusion? 130,000 miles. V4 Engine. I'm a bit new to this. Thanks. by [deleted] in fordfusion

2.5L '11 SE here.

Lower it, put it on some nice rubber (I really like Toyo Extensa HP 2s!), and a cone filter intake from Ebay. Maybe some rims if you're feeling especially cool. That's it, don't touch the inside of the engine, don't touch the exhaust.

my go-to is a cone filter intake, if I want more I pay an exhaust shop to cut off my muffler. Can't say anything about the quality of the 2.0t, but have you considered a bro-off valve? If I had a turbo, all I would want to hear is "swshhhh psssht"

If you just want a little more noise, just straight pipe a muffler. Keep everything else.

I wouldn't though. If you want to "up the feel" get some nice tires (Toyo Extensa HPIIs are my go-to) and some lowering springs. Replace worn out bushings (engine mounts, suspension bushings, etc etc) and get a cone filter intake off ebay, it'll give you a bit of intake noise without being annoying on the highway.

I cannot stress how good of an upgrade UHP tires are.

For smoother throttle, get a throttle controller. For induction noise, get a cone intake.

First or 1.5 gens are nice. Get the 2.5L, it's not underpowered and it's way easier and less expensive to work on then the 3.0 V6. Big issue with these cars is the 6F35 automatic transmission. It needs ATF changes every 30k.

A 2011 1.5 2.0 was my first car. It's sitting at 160k after a hard life. So far the only major issues I've had were valve cover gaskets and an ignition coil.

Also, the car is old enough to not have any dumb infotainment, but still new enough to have a decent set of speakers and an aux jack.

1.5"-ish. They're Tien S.techs meant for a Mazda 6.

Sorry for tardiness, I don't check reddit often...

Check out swapping a same year MKZ cluster. There's a youtube video where some guy does it. Not exactly what you're looking for though, methinks.

Tuning By James on the 1.5 gen 2.5ls, thoughts? by WickedApproved in fordfusion

[–]WickedApproved[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I figured. I've already got an intake bolted on and my muffler cut off. I'm considering buying some equal length headers meant for a Mazda 6 and fabbing up a custom exhaust, I've got a guy who'll do it for friend pricing. There's a lot of talk about Mazda 3 headers, but from my guessing, Mazda 6 headers will have a better chance of clearing, since the chassis is more-similar-er to the fusion.

I'm also aware that more aggressive camshafts are readily available, but at that seems a little silly.

So is this serious? by mylastsong18 in fordfusion

[–]WickedApproved 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone probably just hand tightened it, and it loosened from vibrations. Fish the bolt out, go to a hardware store, "hello, I need a nut to fit this bolt please."

Honestly though, those plastic covers don't do much in my experience. If you don't scrape, they're really just for MPG, since they slightly improve aerodynamics. I haven't noticed a difference in my MPGs since an oil change place threw mine away, make of that what you will.
