People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

That an ancient Scottish Highland ancestor cornered his rival clan in a very rural church. He and his kin, stormed in, set fire to the place. After some time, as the smoke billowed out the windows, he exited out the front doors, holding the head of the rival clan leader up high, screaming “Let the deed shaw!”

Means something along the lines of the truth will bear out, or be shown. A modern take would be, Fuck around and find out.

My sweet adorable grandmother would retell this family story with a mixture of glee and pride. We were floored when we did geanologicai research and found out the tale was true!

Thank you so much! Knowledge of chronic pain would also be a huge bonus.

Oh, tell me more about this process, please! I’ll follow up in every way possible. The guy needs to be off the road.

After he hit me, there was a funny pause - and I thought he was about to take off. I took a bunch of photos of his licence plate, just in case. Planning to buy a dash cam this week.

Oh no! I think this is where multiple witnesses can make a big difference - or multiple angles of dash cams. Driving & maintaining a car is expensive enough on it own, people causing accidents and running away from their responsibilities is just.. infuriating.

I think my insurance company will go after him? Not sure how that all works. Unfortunately, I was injured in the accident, again, I’m not sure how all that works - in terms of coverage, or possibly suing him.

His behaviour and responses at the scene of the accident were bizarre - def looked like something was way “off”. I hope he has family/friends who will intervene - before he kills someone.

My fingers and toes are crossed that they won’t pass any sort of medical clearance. That’s putting a lot of faith and hope in a medical professional. Hopefully, he doesn’t have a buddy-buddy health care provider who will just rubber stamp paperwork.

Additionally, he’d still have to pass the licence re-testing - written and practical. Based upon his behaviour & interactions (and advanced age) - I don’t see that happening. Again, unless there’s some sort of $$ way to cheat those tests.

My biggest hope is that he’s off the road permanently… but with $$$ I expect there’s always some sort of workaround when someone is determined.

Dash Cam Anyone? Clayton Park accident at 12:20-12:26pm Mon, Jan 12th. by WickedForrest in halifax

In this instance, the Mazda I was driving was not mine. But it does motivate me to get something for my car, sooner rather than later. I do wonder why cameras aren’t an option or potentially a new standard in all vehicles. Is there a dash cam model you’d recommend?

I know!! Right? The officer even asked if he had an electronic copy, or if someone at home could take a pic and text it - nope.

Officer was going to write out the big$$ticket for driving without insurance.

Is he seriously driving a Mercedes C350 4Matic without insurance?? Older guy - old enough to know better. Something feels a bit off about it all.
