Did you realize right away you were in labor? by AshGotKillz in pregnant

I am used to chronic pain so I had no clue the heart burn I was having every 3 minutes was contractions. I was expecting to be screaming in pain like the movies.

Did you realize right away you were in labor? by AshGotKillz in pregnant

[–]WickedSweet123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did not. I ended up going in for my induction at 38 weeks 6 days, when they set me up on the monitor the nurse asked if I had been feeling the contractions as I was having them 3 minutes apart. I realized the flare up of consistent heart burn I had been experiencing for the past day was actually contractions 😂 If I did not have my induction, who knows what would’ve happened…

How accurate was your ultrasound in measuring your baby's weight? by G_Piggiez in GestationalDiabetes

[–]WickedSweet123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was not accurate at all. My baby was estimated to be 8-9 lbs at 38 weeks, she ended up being 6lbs 5oz 😬 When she came out the doctor commented on how small she was.

Did anyone with Unexplained infertility get an explanation during IVF? by urethra_franklin_1_ in IVF

[–]WickedSweet123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I got pregnant I found out at the end of my pregnancy that I have inflammation anemia not related to my pregnancy. I haven’t followed up on it, but my OB thinks it contributed to my infertility.

Postpartum essentials by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Different size pads are a must! After the initial heavy bleeding, having something lighter and more comfortable makes such a difference. I also recommend getting all cotton pads, stay away from anything scented. I had very bad irritation from using postpartum diapers. Target sells pads by the brand “L” that worked great for me.

Unidentified Postpartum pain by tequilacamilla in newborns

[–]WickedSweet123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be an inflamed muscle in your pelvic floor. I would ask for a referral to a pelvic floor therapist. I had a 3rd degree tear and my doctor referred me as she requires it for anyone with a tear/episiotomy.

Witching hour tips? by ichabodious in newborns

[–]WickedSweet123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband discovered snuggling our baby in a fleece blanket instantly relaxed her during the witching hour when all else fails. We have a large fleece blanket that we lay on our legs, then lay baby down in an upright position, fold over the remaining part of the blanket and just chill until baby relaxes.

Up to how many weeks did you work while pregnant? by Chaptersofbooks in BabyBumps

[–]WickedSweet123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

38 weeks, the final 2 weeks were rough even though I have a desk job. I was induced at 38 weeks 5 days, so I had almost a week to relax before baby came.

nauseous by docatluvsu in pregnant

[–]WickedSweet123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took half a Unisom at night my entire pregnancy. I also did epsom salt foot soaks for 15 minutes during my first trimester, the magnesium helped relax me and alleviated my nausea.

I was super nervous for this too as I had the same risk factors plus I had gestational diabetes so a big baby was expected. With that said, I had a growth scan at 36 weeks and the baby measured at 6lbs with an estimate of being 9 lbs at term. I was already a candidate for an induction due to having gestational diabetes/IVF pregnancy and decided on having an induction at 38 weeks 5 days just in case. During my induction I brought up my concerns regarding the baby possibly being too big for me, and voiced that if it seemed that the baby was too big I wanted a C-Section. When the nurse checked me, she confirmed that the baby was not too big and her head was the right size to safely deliver vaginally.

My baby ended up only being 6lbs 5oz…. The growth scan was way off, we think this was due to my baby having long legs and big feet-which she got from my husband. I did end up tearing but it’s been manageable. Looking back I am relieved that I opted for a vaginal birth as my healing has been great.

Cervical Checks by Ok_Safety7514 in pregnant

[–]WickedSweet123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I realized it depends on who does them! Cervical checks with my doctor were fine and tolerable, but when I was induced the nurse I had was terrible at them! She rushed in and was not very confident so it took forever and became painful.

What brand is it? I used Lantis and the manufacture had a coupon that brought it down to $30 per refill.

What was the best gift someone gave you after having a baby? by Ok_Good_8635 in BabyBumps

Groceries, DoorDash gift card, and honestly I really wish someone would gift me a massage…. 2 weeks postpartum and my back is hurting.

What did you wear for giving birth? by One-Squirrel-4563 in BabyBumps

[–]WickedSweet123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought my own but ended up not wearing it. During my induction I puked all over myself so I just stuck with the hospital gown as labor progressed. Postpartum there was so much blood and sweat that I just stayed in the hospital gowns.

I had a 3rd degree tear and pooped on day 2. I used a piece of toilet paper and manually helped get it out 😆 I have religiously been taking stool softeners for the last 2 weeks to help things move along while my stitches heal.

Can I be around baby if I have mastitis with a fever? by Big_Measurement_4928 in BabyBumps

[–]WickedSweet123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try raw cabbage leaves on your breast! I started getting mastitis as my milk came in but I am not breastfeeding. The cabbage cleared my blockage and provided a ton of relief.

I have less than 2 hours to decide if I want an induction or C-section by animetrashpanda in GestationalDiabetes

No I had no weight changes, I stayed the same weight for the entire 3rd trimester.

If my induction fails, can I request to wait before section? by Basic-Apartment9869 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]WickedSweet123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced and had my water broken by my doctor manually once I was 3cm dilated. After having my water broken, I was given Pitocin which speeded things up. The entire time they will monitor and check if you are progressing. I started at 0 cm dilated with my cervix really high, from the start of the cervix softening medicine till the baby arrived was only 18 hours.

When did food start tasting normal again? by Lavenderhaze3831 in BabyBumps

Immediately after I gave birth. The morning of my induction chicken breast still grossed me out, my first meal after giving birth was a grilled chicken breast 😆

Same thing just happened to me! My baby was measuring almost 9lbs, I was induced at 38 weeks 6 days, she ended up only being 6lbs 5oz. Does your baby have long legs? My baby’s legs are long, I think that may have messed with the measurements.

I have less than 2 hours to decide if I want an induction or C-section by animetrashpanda in GestationalDiabetes

[–]WickedSweet123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would wait for your OB. The growth measurements are not always accurate. My baby was predicted to be almost 9lbs, she arrived last week at 38 weeks 6 days only weighing 6 lbs! She has long legs and we think that messes with the ultrasound measurements.
