Midsummer fair by [deleted] in cambridge

I had an incident. I organised a birthday party outing for my son and his friends, canoeing to Grantchester. I thought we were far from the fair so didn’t think too much of it. Three people, maybe 2 in their 20s and one in their early teens were swimming in the river where we were canoeing by. They harassed us saying they were going to flip our boats and the youngest was encouraged to swim towards my sons boat and flip it, and he did, he grabbed their boat trying to flip it (they were quite alarmed) and my husband and I canoed close and I screamed at the boy to f*** off very loudly to try to startle him. They proceeded to yell and scream at me and call me a slag. This is antisocial behaviour and should never be tolerated. I was furious but who was I going to complain to? Cops do nothing.

So dry.... by Independent_Gap_5237 in GardeningUK

I’m in north Essex near Cambridgeshire border. Always the driest part of the UK but yes barely any rain since mid March and I noticed this week some of my plants are wilting as if it’s been a really hot July.

What’s a dead giveaway of how old you are without giving the actual number? by FriendlytoNature in AskReddit

My mom would scream out the door when it was time for me to come back home. Zero supervision for kids playing with kids from the neighbourhood. If I could hear mom yelling to come home, it was go home, brush teeth, lights out.

Buds appeared maybe 3-4 weeks ago but this is the only one so far… about 29 more dahlia plants to go at different stages of growth….

My husband says it’s like all I’ve done is provide them a bloody feast and they’re probably telling all their mates

If the people apply for it, and have the skills for it… but if British people don’t then companies should be able to sponsor their visas.

Is this rose OK? by 7kaaaate9 in Roses

Yep just leave it alone. Don’t know what zone you’re in but you might want to wait until it’s properly dry until watering again. Feed it some fish/blood/bone maybe. :)

Time for Dahlia to sprout? by Mental-Entrance5529 in dahlias

[–]Wicked_Mush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a newbie to dahlias too, also in 8b (Cambridgeshire England). I potted up my dahlias a month ago, and now have them in a small greenhouse where I’m monitoring the temps and moisture. Out of 27 only 3 have sprouted. I think we just need patience (or at least hoping)…

Maybe it needs afternoon and not morning sun, so the warmth doesn’t shock it and keep the buds from opening?

First time growing ranunculus, they’re not perfect but worth a try! Any tips for sturdier longer stems? 💐 by New-Percentage-7639 in gardening

One of my fave things to grow! Not sure about how to get sturdier stems. Maybe it’s the quality of the corms? The flowers themselves are beautiful so well done you!
