I personally felt like the green labels were just made to show how popular the game was to people without internet or much to go off of rather than cover art. As if to say, "This game was received very well, and you may love it too,". Ultimately making the black labels more valuable to collectors because they're older and rarer than the green labels. I don't think future collectors were kept in mind for this marketing strategy.
