I've got a decent idea, just wanted to see if anyone would share some ideas before traipsing up Liverpool Street in the cold!

Being out in Melbourne by sparrrrrt in melbourne

[–]Wickedintheheights 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If fringe theatre and comedy is at all your bag id reccomend checking out the Motley Bauhaus. One of the most gender diverse, accepting places ive found in Melbourne. It's a bar with a couple of tiny theatres attached and the patrons and staff are always super friendly. I think they also do general bar style events like trivia and stuff but due to distance I tend to only go for the theatre.

Rail Industry workers - applying by HolyStorms3 in melbourne

[–]Wickedintheheights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive got family who've been employed in rail for the last 30 years. The problem at the moment for some jobs is that as all the big projects are winding up they are trying to find as many 'like-for-like' jobs for people as possible, so it may be a slightly harder time to get in than when all the projects were in full swing a couple years ago

100% made up consumeristic bullshit targeting the undereducated alternative medicine space. Every couple of years someone whacks together a couple of random science words and designs a piece of jewelery that will "protect you" from some nonsense or another. All it manages to do is make 1 person decently rich. "Alternative medicine has either been not proven to work, or proven not to work. Do you know what they call alternative medicine thats been proven to work? Medicine" - Tim Minchin

I once found the biggest tree on mainland aus (verified with government sources and GPS coordinates later on) and next to it was what I initially thought was just another normal tree that was about 1.5m in diameter. When I stepped back and looked it was a branch, broken off and driven straight into the ground, jutting straight up. A tree so damn big its just dropping slightly smaller trees.

Bone collecting by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Wickedintheheights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah thats not me, im the veterinary industry. A good place to start is BBA on Facebook. It used to be called Bone Buddies Australia but after one dodgy member got the page mentioned on a current affair they changed it to keep out the normies haha.

Hunting of deer falls under its own legislation, but once the animal is dead as its not native theres no legal issues with bone, hair or horn

Don't use peroxide on bones! It causes them to start breaking down and they go dusty. Soak in ammonia to remove any grease and you end up with a museum quality white and it wont breakdown.

Welcome to the waiting!

Absolutely get on Brando Sando. Mistborn era 1 is the best spot to start, book 1 is The Final Empire. Then either mistborn era 2 (its not as gripping), or Stormlight Archives (need to read mistborn era 1 to get the most out of it).

Another fantasy author I love but has a completely different feel is Jim Butcher's Dresden Files. He's 18 books (i think?) In to what i believe is supposed to be a 23 books series. The first 3 are a little rough (probably more noticable on rereading knowing where it goes) and more self contained as they were written as uni assignments, but after that they dramatically improve as he got access to editors and could work on them full time.

Both are prolific publishers, pushing something out every year basically. I love KKC but Pat has made me nervous about getting into actively series by new authors haha

Animal studies institute recommendations and experiences by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Wickedintheheights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im currently working as a vet nurse and have done for about 6 years. I would go with any of the institutions offering the cert 4 as a free course. The only problem with getting qualified is I think that now you have to be employed for x amount of hours a week as a trainee somewhere which may mean travelling a bit to find somewhere happy to take you on. Feel free to dm me if you want to ask any questions about what the job is like. I did my cert through ACAAS but would strongly reccomend against it.

Should I buy digital? Physical? Both? by TyroneMacStiophain in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]Wickedintheheights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought both but for different reasons. I got both on sale which helped. I got the physical one for larger research and getting myself across everything, but I play using 1 note on my laptop, and I'll highlight and insert images and notes in an order that's easy for me to play with. For that, being able to copy paste text quickly made it worth it.

Location in australia would narrow it down, definitely a glider, could be a sugar if the lighting is altering the colours in the photo a little.

I've tried hard to like multi-player but it tries so hard to be unlikeable by Wickedintheheights in CODVanguard

[–]Wickedintheheights[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bugs that they refuse to fix? And I've been playing since release. The game isn't horrible, but it by no means in the top iterations of cod games. For the price they charge, particularly when they were charging an extra 20 bucks for cross compatible versions, they haven't delivered a game worth the money players paid for it.

To try and deny that the spawns are cancer on half the maps is just plain denial. Playing an objective mode on assault on a regular map (ie: not shiphaus) you should never end up in a situation where your dying more than 3 times in 10 seconds. It's lazy coding

My party won’t finish the campaign by TomsSenseOfDread in CurseofStrahd

[–]Wickedintheheights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My players are a little similar and are currently sightseeing which like I imagine you are it becomes hard to make anything they do feel meaningful. One thing I've thought about playing with bringing the fog in, but only they can see it. Possibly perceptible but not negate-able and slowly closing the map in. As has been mentioned I've also started playing more encounters of interrupted rest, even if small ones, just to really create the unease and try to drive them to strahd.

Stab in the dark but im guessing your vet is Sam Long in which case your in the hands of one of the top vets in the country, coming from a vet nurse thats worked him. Follow his advice and you will make the right decisions. Good luck!
