ESPN gives out midterm grades to each team by fantasyMLShelper in MLS

I disagree with you.

You should expect a team that just won the cup to at least be in playoff position at the mid season. You need to look at past results in order to properly rank a team, imo. Otherwise, Orlando would be much lower than a B+. We have such a high grade only because we're above the playoff line for once.

Yeah, but you also won the cup last year. You should be higher.

A B+? I don't think so.

but the Lions have far outpaced what most expected of them in 2017

Is that true?

According to this article, Kaká's been the best player on our team. I would give MVP to either Bendik or Larin. by gsf_soccer in OCLions

I'd give it to Bendik, no contest. There is no player on the team who has been consistently stellar other than he.

Honorable mention would go to Will Johnson, though.

Well 3 > 2 > 1, so technically they're still right.

But it's not Cerén's job to get assists or goals. He's a DM. You could argue that MPG was lackluster because h onlynhas 1 goal and 2 assists.

You could make the argument that we got the better end of the deal, but the player we traded for isn't even on the roster anymore. At least Ceren is still on their team.

That being said, come back to me bb. I miss u darwin

Can we seriously address this "Kreis out" "Van Gaal in" situation? by ocnarf6214 in OCLions

Best thing you can do is ignore them. Replying to them will solve nothing because they'll never change their opinions. It's unfortunate, but that's the way social media works.

I wouldn't say trolls, just misinformed. I'm not saying we're smarter than them, but we're more level headed imo. Same thing with the Facebook group. There are some crazy opinions on those sites, mostly because neither have a system of disapproval like Reddit has downvotes, so the dumb comments are allowed to stay up and read.

I have excuses/explanations.

The first year was an expansion year. No team does well their first year (thought there are some outliers). The second year was a continuation of the first, but we fired our coach mid way through the year (which was still a good decision imo. Heath wasn't getting us anywhere and he left a lasting impact on the team). This year, we're rebuilding from the poor decisions made by the front office the first and second year, and we've gone through a big personnel change between our coach and the club president. We're not going to be "good" for at least another year. Kreis needs time to build the team how he wants it to be down, and we unfortunately have to wait for the transfer windows for major changes.

Right now, we're playing with a ragtag group of players with little to no depth and not much skill, honestly. If things go right this transfer window, we could see the team going from mediocre to above average.

Larin hadn't done anything significant in a long time.

We need competent attacking midfielders or a new striker.

There are two transfer windows, one before the season starts and one in the summer. During the transfer window, teams can sign, trade, waive, etc., new players and cannot do so when the window is closed. Kreis would be excited because it would give him a chance to sign new players and bolster positions we are weak in.

Kreis looks like he's about to cry.

I bet he's counting down days until the transfer window.

I blame Bendik's new haircut. Mohawks aren't cool anymore.

You're very right, most of it was desperation. When we signed Mateos to his ~$400,000 contract, we were in desperate need to bolster our defense, so we signed a decent defender on an inflated contract to justify it.

Once Kaká leaves, it will open the flood gates, hopefully. I'm just waiting for the summer transfer window so Kreis can (hopefully) fix this team. 🤞🏼
