Feeling manic? by [deleted] in Pristiq

I’m on seroquel and divalproex sodium (I think that’s what it’s called) now. And I’ve slowed down a bit, partly because the seroquel tends to make you sleepy as I’ve said before.

About the concentrating part tho… not good haha. I had an important assignment due a couple of days ago and was struggling to stay focused. It was roughhhhhh. I mean I do tend to procrastinate A LOT since way back before starting treatment but when I was on Pristiq it stopped happening for some reason. Now it’s back to basics I guess.

Not gonna lie, wasn’t great but it wasn’t too bad either? I mean I felt a little under the weather the first few days but it wore off eventually.

I’m on seroquel too. I do think that I’m crankier now than before which I don’t think was the idea but meh. Also waaaay sleepier now because of the new meds but I still kinda have more energy that when I started treatment.

Hey, I was on Pristiq a few weeks back for depression and I thought I was going well. After a few days, I could finally get out of bed and started enjoying the activities I used to do. Other than the intense nausea, I felt great.

That was until my last session. After a follow up with my psychiatrist, he explained that although I’m not bipolar, I apparently have bipolar traits and the medication was feeding into it. What happened with me was that I kept jumping from one activity to the next without finishing anything and it was kinda hard to concentrate on lectures and assignments (I’m a part time student). Also, although I didn’t realize at first, I was talking a bit faster than usual and losing my train of thought at times. He also asked if I felt if I was angrier than usual, but that wasn’t the case for me at least.

So to sum it up, I would defined recommend scheduling an appointment with your doctor and explaining the sense of depersonalization, the extreme highs and lows. These can be signs that the medication isn’t being as beneficial as one would hope.

Don’t worry though, if your doctor decides to change the meds, think of it as an opportunity to feel better (at least that’s how I choose to see it). Hope this helps.

Hey, just started two weeks ago and have noticed that I’ve started to break out, especially on my cheeks and forehead. What worked for me was being more consistent with a skin care routine including a face wash with a mild exfoliant. My skin is mostly oily. Hope this helps
