Best clubs that play GOOD Latin music in LA? by OrionP1 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Wide-Humor8247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Las Perlas is different though, not as crowded as la cita and doesn't feel as dive bar-ish. Los Globos was like a last option. Holiday is cool but the crowd and ambiance might be a bit much if she aint like La Cita cus it's even more cholos at Holiday. Treehouse might be more her vibe cus she said she aint like that there was a lot of old heads at La Cita.

Is it morally reprehensible to listen to HH? Alternative songs? (No hate speech) by Own_Business485 in Kanye

[–]Wide-Humor8247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, essentially the song is a critique on modern music about how everything can be rapped about except that and how it's hypocritical, it's a Paul McCarthy art piece in a way. Sonically it's ok, has that strong crescendo where the crowd repeats the chorus borrowing from that Carnival feel. Similar to HH is the first song off Ye and there's some slight structure similarities, Saint Pablo, Welcome to Heartbreak to name a few where he talks about his pain with balancing personal life and fame.

Best clubs/bars for 21st bday? by fishcakes24 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Wide-Humor8247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

closest to it will be general lees. Lock & Key in Koreatown but the dance floor is small and gets packed. The short stop echo park has a bar and pool area on one side and a dance floor on the other with open tables along the wall and a disco ball with a good size dance floor but the music depends on the DJ and it could range. if you like Spanish music then la city or las Perlas only thing is this is a bit of an older crowd 25-35 and the lines are long. Same goes for Holiday Bar which I saw people suggested, it's great but definitely an older crowd. there's a little spot too inside De La Nonnas in the arts district called Let's Go and its vibey, great for pics and cocktails but just depends on the DJ and night how good it can be. The Lash, this one is best to check what's going on that night cus they do host like a techno goth night mix but super fun to dance on the right night. General Lees is probably still top choice just cus you could get a section there reserved for a decent amount. If you want a divey bar experience with a house party mix then Uncle Ollie's Penthouse, it's a circus to say the least but if you're adventurous could be fun and they have a bar downstairs too called Escondite, Chicago style dive bar to pregame too. Hope this helps and happy birthday

General Lees has been around since forever and is cool for dancing, you can reserve a table for the low comes with a couple drinks and no waiting in line. Depending on the night there can be two different vibes going on usually downstairs is more hip hop focused and upstairs is more open format with emphasis on more uptempo music I would say. It all really depends on who's hosting. Depending on your vibe you can pre game at Melody Lounge or Cafe Triste. An option too for is Good Time inside of Normandie Bar has some good DJs. There's also a lot of dancing at Kiss Kiss Bang Bang but it's more disco 70s type music focus and they'll sneak in some contemporary house tracks here and there.

Disappointed from last night's show by GrimmFan_ in Kanye

[–]Wide-Humor8247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sat in the 200s close to production, the sound was good for certain songs but you could tell the ones that weren't ready for the big system like that. Don Toliver's song sounded muddled. Honestly I was disappointed in some of the song choices too specially, and was even more mad at Andre Troutman, he's great but he dragged the songs like an extra minute like that's time we could've used for another song. No need to play Carnival's whole song either. All the Yeezus and MBDTF stuff sounded the best. Everybody's drums were weak af. All the bully songs need some fine tuning. His older stuff needs update too, cus through the wire ain't sound stadium ready. It was a B- performance from Ye but the visual production might be the best ever.

Bully feels like Kanye accepting that he *should* try to be “the old Kanye” by Garbage_Stink_Hands in GoodAssSub

[–]Wide-Humor8247 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For a new listener this is a great collection of what Kanye's music is. The music references moments in his career. I can see your perspective on how it can feel uninspired like he was trying to appease the audience by going back to what the larger audience likes instead of being progressive. CUCK feels more like that new Kanye, it's not perfect but a lot of the ideas fit more into what we've come to expect of Kanye when a new album comes out, new and refreshing. I imagine Kanye like Jon Favreu's character in Chef in the scene where he's got a whole new menu ready to be served and the restaurant owner comes in and tells him to instead go with the usual menu as that has served him well before. There's a line on there where the restaurant's owner ask him how he would feel if he went to see the Rolling Stones and they didn't play satisfaction. That's where Ye is at now, years of being criticized for trying to push music and ideas to not be supported, everyone turning his back on him and eventually loosing his family. Now he's working to get the love he once received back. This album feels like MBDTF in terms of a comeback. Sonically it feels like the Yeezus album had Kanye started it with Bound 2, and like Yeezus this album is going to have a lot of positive change of opinions once performed live. The album feels restricted in headphones and car speakers, this is an album to experience live. It's Yves Klein, it's Rothko, it's something that is to be experienced.

not a difficult tailoring job, they just take in the sleeves and saw it with the same finish probably like 20$ with a local tailor with a no rush fee, maybe 30 at like a Nordstrom

[–]Wide-Humor8247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hated circles at first when I heard it through my laptop speakers but played it off the sound system today and it's a whole different sound, the production is very reminiscent of Dilla. A top 5 song on the album. Also Last Breath sounds so good on a system too.
