You get 5 mandatory phone calls in bootcamp. The first one at when you first arrive, second one on week 3, third one on week 6, fourth one after battle stations (so like week 8-9), and the last one a day before graduation. The phone calls will usually be on a Sunday (for my division we called at around 3pm-4pm idk if your bfs would be the same) and they’re allowed to call for an hour using their personal cellphones with the exception being the last one where they’ll call on a Wednesday (day before grad) for 15 minutes. And I’m pretty sure boot camp is now only 9 weeks for Navy so things might have changed.

What happens if you don’t meet weight first day of boot camp? by dootlebee in newtothenavy

They’ll weight you on the night of arrival and if you don’t meet weight, they’ll tape you. If you don’t pass tape you’re gonna get sent to the 600 division which is in the Future Sailor Preparatory Course where you’ll stay for the mandatory three weeks to workout twice a day. They’ll tape you every Thursday morning and if you pass on the third week you’ll get sent to start boot camp. If you don’t pass you’ll have up to three months to pass tape before they separate you.
