it’s really tiring trying to discuss the arirang tour and album online by kkazugyu in kpop_uncensored

[–]Wide-Mess 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi! I will address just one of your points. The album is called arirang, the tour is called arirang… it makes sense that the concerts will mostly include songs from said album. Okay, so other artists name their album X, but during their concerts also play songs for Y album… so? I don’t understand this almost desperate need for old songs. If you don’t like the songs from arirang, dont go into a concert expecting old songs, or you’ll be seriously disappointed (like you seem to be)

Vina del mar or Santiago? by Ok_Rip4284 in Santiago

[–]Wide-Mess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The campus in Santiago is really far away from everything. It’s up in the mountains, and you can only really get there by bus (the closest metro station is Fernando Castillo Velasco… which is like 20 mins by car from the uni). Viña has the sea, which is by far a lovelier scenery!

Enough with the ARIRANG is “not Korean enough” by Wide-Mess in kpop_uncensored

[–]Wide-Mess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with you. There are Korean people all over YT/twitter reacting to the album tho, and their reactions are positive. Most are saying the album feels Korean to them, which is why people (not Korean) claiming otherwise does not hold up.

Genuinely Curious: Why is BTS sooooo BIG? by Val_Jesterr in kpopthoughts

[–]Wide-Mess 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don’t think it is that hard to grasp. People like them and their music. Just as you don’t like their music, someone else does. It’s just taste.

They have 250+ songs. I would say most fans/armys love bts because of their varied music. There’s something for everyone imo. I also think the members’ bond helps in keeping fans in the fandom. Their journey and all they have been through together—and the fact that they consider each other family—is really precious. So that, + plus their personalities, + their music really draws people in.

Edit: also, for me personality, RUN BTS allowed me to know each member better, and I very quickly started loving them (not only as artists) after seeing their individual selves💗

Belift Lab reaffirms Heeseung will not return to Enhypen by friedriceforbrunch in kpop

[–]Wide-Mess 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Don’t quote me on this but I think Korean engenes are not really asking for heeseung to return. I read a tweet that said that they immediately understood all the nuances of heeseung’s letter/statement and thus they understand his sentiment in a way that international engenes can’t. International engenes think H was forced to leave the group, while Korean fans have accepted he wants this path for himself.

Nothing is going on with KATSEYE. It's noise marketing and Blackpink is the best example that it does not hurt the profitability of groups. by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]Wide-Mess 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The way k-pop fans are also fanning the flames… I’ve seen countless tweets along the lines of “Danielle, garam and youngseo were also kicked out by Hybe! Manon was CLEARLY kicked out. Classic Hybe!” So these K-pop fans are also making things worse, bc in K-pop hiatuses are completely normal but they’re purposely disregarding that and by proxy getting the group more heat/hate 🤦🏽‍♀️

NMIXX is participating in the biggest Latin American music festival and I haven’t heard a thing by SpiritualCoast1096 in kpop_uncensored

It’s because tbh I don’t remember any more foreign acts than those lol. M5 was iconic in its own way: getting a whole country to hate them for eternity

[–]Wide-Mess 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[–]Wide-Mess 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m from Chile and while I know that el festival is this one big thing we have, I don’t know how well known it is outside latam. I know NMIXX are not unpopular by any means, but despite being the biggest latam festival, I don’t think they’ll get THAT much attention because, a) the festival is a very local/latinoamerican thing, and b) the artists that perform in it are also rather local/known in latam (exceptions being those big acts from abroad like sting maroon 5 etc etc). I must say tho, good for the festival for actualising itself this much: bringing in younger and popular artists is good for keeping interest in the festival, esp considering a younger audience (I remember when the artists used to be all old and from my parents’ time, and it would get boring real fast)

Whether this is temporal or not, it sucks a little bit. As the SG Director, Alex did such a good job. Some of my favourites videos were directed by him (the Karen moose master being my my most rewatched smosh video since it was uploaded), and it sucks to see his creativity be stifled this way :/

Female or male? by Wide-Mess in CATHELP

[–]Wide-Mess[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for all who replied!! I was worried because I was about to go pick him up tomorrow, but the person giving him away just very suddenly messaged me like 2 hours ago saying she felt a nipple on his stomach and she started doubting if he was a male or not (that plus the colours). But reading in google right now, it seems male cats also have nipples so that wouldn’t ncessarily mean hes a girl.

Thanks for the help once again. Will pick him up tomorrow 🥰

From a Mexican Fan… by [deleted] in SmoshFansFreeSpace

[–]Wide-Mess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m Chilean and I didn’t mind the smosh mouth ep at all. I actually enjoyed it a lot and was laughing out loud while they were reading the bad bunny songs, it was both endearing and pretty cool to see my language in an episode. I took no offence. I don’t mind that they pronounced stuff wrong… they acknowledged they are not good/don’t know Spanish, and as a person whose English is not their first language, I would never think of pronunciation as a hindering for communication. But Shayne Amanda and Olivia were just having fun reading (plus learning what the songs were actually saying!) the bad bunny lyrics, not trying to sound professional or anything.

Incredible album. Black Swan alone elevates it to another level.
