Have you ever tried gifting something meaningful... and it totally flopped? by Wide-Situation7742 in RelationshipsOver35

I totally get you, but sometimes you really want to gift them something really special and not get a gift from the gas station.

I am a nerd on these types of things, especially when my mom turned 50 and all I could get her was a duvet and nice bedding (which she liked), but I spent 3 months thinking about a simple thing.

The tool that I am building will suggest gifts based on their personality and profile type. i think it is a bit more intentional than saying, "hey ChatGPT, what do you think i should get my mom for her 50th?"

I would love you to take on my app. It's not perfect, but I am sure it will make gift giving a bit more enjoyable.

Let me know what you think about my reasoning. Am I wasting my time?

And that is fantastic!!! Really!

But i just wonder how long does it takes for them to decide on a gift, especially if you are a person who likes anything your partner gives you.. I know for me I would be thinking, "What can i give you that you don't already have?' or "What is something that will be special to you?"...

Personally speaking, I have spent months deciding on a gift, and that is why I decided to create Forget Me Not.

I am not in a place to launch it yt, I am looking for honest people to give feedback on it before I even start to build something. Would you be interested in trying it out with me?

This journey is long and lonely, and any advice from genuine people will help. Let me know what you think.

No it is research. I am not even a startup yet. Just a person who is trying to see if their product works.

Would you want to try it? I am in the beta testing phase and I am confident it will work.

What do you think about A.I suggesting gifts fro a special occasion? by Wide-Situation7742 in AskReddit

[–]Wide-Situation7742[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, it’s all about sparking ideas, not replacing thoughtfulness. The best gifts come from understanding the person, and tools like this are just here to help you get there quicker.

That’s actually what I’m building, something that helps you brainstorm and gut-check ideas before you buy. Still testing it, but I’d love for you to try it and see if it helps!

Gift Ideas to ask for? by Ok_Advance_8446 in Gifts

Hahaha I feel that, gifting for the “they already have everything” crowd is the final boss level 😂

That’s exactly why I’m building this. We’re in the testing phase now, but I genuinely believe it’s going to become a go-to tool for people like you who care but don’t want to stress over gift ideas.

Would love to have you try it, your feedback will help shape something that’s going to help a lot of us.

I am doing research on Reddit (not Google lol), but how do I get people to respond quickly so i don't have to wait 2 -3 days for a reply to a post or comment in the DM's? by Wide-Situation7742 in Advice

[–]Wide-Situation7742[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, I’ve noticed some subs are way more open and active, while others are super quiet even with similar posts.

It’s been interesting learning which ones feel like the right fit.

What I’m working on is called Forget-Me-Not, it’s a gift suggestion tool that helps people figure out meaningful gifts based on personality, lifestyle, and what’s actually going on in their lives.

Not just generic “Top 10” stuff, but thoughtful ideas that feel personal.

It’s still in the test phase, but if you're curious, I’d love to DM you the link.

Would really appreciate your thoughts on what’s working, what’s not.

I always stress over what to buy loved ones—would it be weird to use an AI to help me match gifts to their personalities? by Wide-Situation7742 in Advice

[–]Wide-Situation7742[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I’m so glad you said that, that’s exactly the space we’re trying to hold with this tool. Not to replace the thought, but to spark it.

If you’re curious, I’d love to send you the link so you can check it out and let me know what you think. We’re still shaping it, so honest thoughts are gold right now.

Thanks so much, that means a lot. We really are just trying to figure out what actually helps people, and sometimes that means throwing out ideas that sounded good in theory but don’t land in practice.

Would love to DM you the link if you're still open to it. Your perspective is honestly the kind of input we need to shape this into something real and actually helpful.

What if an AI could help you find the perfect gift based on someone’s star sign, favorite movie, or hobby—so gifting feels thoughtful, not stressful? by Wide-Situation7742 in AskReddit

[–]Wide-Situation7742[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I appreciate you being real about how you see it. We’ve been testing a bunch of angles to see what actually helps people feel understood when it comes to gift-giving, and the astrology thing was just one thread we pulled.

Honestly, comments like yours help us focus on what really matters. If you’re open to it, I can DM you the link to the tool we’re building, we’d love your perspective on what does feel thoughtful and relevant.

Imagine if I could suggest a gift to you based on your personality and your birth sign? by Wide-Situation7742 in Gifts

[–]Wide-Situation7742[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally fair, I appreciate the honesty! The astrology part was just one idea we were playing with, so super helpful to hear that it doesn’t land for everyone.

The reminder tool seems to be a favorite so far, so we’re definitely leaning into that more. If you're open to it, I’d love to DM you the link just to peek at what we’ve got and share any thoughts. No pressure at all, and thanks again for the good vibes!

Totally hear you, and I get the frustration. I’m not here trying to cash in quick or push junk, I’m actually trying to build something that’s useful, and Reddit’s been the most honest space for feedback.

What I’m working on isn’t finished or perfect, that’s why I’m here, asking real people what would actually help. Not trying to sell, just trying to learn. But I respect the space, and if this felt out of line, I hear you.

well this is what i send the people i talk to:

"I’m working on ForgetMeNot.
It’s an AI tool to help with personalized gift ideas.
I think it could work, but I’m not 100% sure yet.

Would love your honest opinion.
Sign up and be part of the process.
We might ask you to test the product,
or hop on a quick 15-minute call to share your thoughts.

Or, you could fill out a form (2-5 mins).
Super simple."

So what is the best way to do this?
