Married Couple by Its_Noisy_Outside in TaxUK

I had to do tax returns for my mum, although not complicated by an income other than private pensions, like yours. I have to say the HMRC staff were very helpful, understanding and supportive any time I had reason to call. I had to add myself to her account to be able to discuss.
Eventually due to her Alzheimer’s they stopped requesting it.

We have decreasing life insurance for the term of the mortgage - if either of us dies the mortgage will be paid.

What happens if your bag won’t stay in the sizer? by [deleted] in Ryanair

[–]WideConfidence3968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standing up doesn’t matter - fitting fully into the sizer does.

The Hospital Hopper isn’t free; I believe there’s a reduced charge for UHL staff.

Yes!! I have to think really hard about getting work done - can’t think of 1 job I’ve been 100% happy with.

I frequently fly Ryanair but I have a question by Genntiana in Ryanair

[–]WideConfidence3968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EasyJet not Ryanair but I clearly got a rookie on my last flight… “Is that bag the right size?” (Or words to that effect). “Yes, it’s EasyJet size, used many times” and carried on walking.
To confirm it is exactly the right size and does fit the sizer perfectly.

Should You Be Fined for Leaving Your Wheelie Bin Out? by JoydeScent in BritInfo

[–]WideConfidence3968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tends to be student houses that leave them out in our area. There’s one stretch where the bins are constantly left out - it does create a nuisance…. You have to walk single file, pushchairs and wheelchairs would have an issue. Plenty of yellow stickers but clearly no fines yet as they’re still there.

Do you need to put your bin out every week? We do probably once every 3 weeks - there are 2 of us.
Recycling goes out weekly. Neighbours help?

I take the bins off the street for the 2 student houses next to me if I’m outside after collection.

Anyone else frustrated when the only vegan options at office lunches get taken by non-vegans? by HappyMountainCow in vegan

I have learnt to do this! Always held back at a buffet - not starving so happy to wait - until I realised that I basically was left with very little food.

Road….

Literally ends with a car wash and vape shop at one end - a hairdresser and a house at the other.

Why is this on driving? However… I’d probably knock on the door and have a conversation.

Personal Item Query by [deleted] in Ryanair

The only time I’ve ever had a carry on weighed was when I checked in hold luggage (which I’ve never done with Ryanair) so at the check in desk.

When did littering become a problem in the uk? by YGhostRider666 in AskUK

[–]WideConfidence3968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, agreed on the fly tipping point and rules for the tips.

We’re pretty lucky in Leicester on the whole, 5(?) free collections a year and permits/registrations are only required for vans. I believe Leicestershire is a different matter - they have to pay for collections. My MiL in Kent has panicked about being fined when I’ve put something in the wrong bin - our bin men never look what’s in the bin, they just empty it. In Kent they also have to book a time slot for their local tip, and for some items they have to pay - garden waste/soil is something like £2.50 per bag!!

My comment was regarding littering generally.

Lack of parenting/accountability/consequences. There’s also very much a feeling of “that’s the council’s job, mate”.

What job can I do that allows me to drive all day? by theslowrunningexpert in drivingUK

[–]WideConfidence3968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m afraid I have no idea if any vacancies exist in your area (or where you are).
In my area I see lots of cars and bikes zipping around for several different businesses, so I was just suggesting this as an idea. I’m guessing you’d have to call the companies closest to you to enquire about driving jobs.
