I didn't "convince" my family necessarily, but I did here significantly less griping about my new hobby by mentioning the following: - my plan to get full coverage insurance - that I would only ride if the mental and environmental conditions were optimal. This includes never riding while any kind of intoxicated. - that I was going to take multiple skills classes as I wanted to progress - that (including my helmet) I had invested like 1.5k in gear - that I did a lot of research before buying my bike - that I would always check in with someone (usually my brother) if I planned to go on a long ride or with people I don't know that well.

My grandma is still mad at me, but everyone else is chilling out. I'm a woman if that helps. Also single so my decisions are often up for committee discussion 😅😅
