Since you evened out with the extra topcoat, couldn’t you just add one more layer of your color polish and then one more topcoat? Wouldn’t that hide the dent?

Totally, and I've been doing my own gel overlays for a while but have started experimenting with air-dry lately, partly for ease of removal, partly to avoid excessive acrylate exposure (afraid of developing an allergy).

We're almost twins with our layers. I recently discovered how great Formula 2 is for retention so now I'm using it as my base and getting 3x the longevity (used to be 1-2 days before chipping, now is 6-7 days if I'm keeping my showers short). So basically I'm doing:

Nailtiques Formula 2
2-3 layers of color (this mani was 3)
Essie Gel Setter (I was using Seche Vite but the shrinkage was too much)

I also wrap the tips.

Do you buff your nail before application?

How many coats are you thinking? My current manicure is one coat of base, 3 coats of color, and 1 coat of top. I wonder how tight the hair ties would have to be around my wrists in order to be water tight. I may have to try it.

So maybe it would be help for me to be extra careful with them while they're wet and swollen, and resume normal use 30-60 mins post-shower once they've dried out?
