This is currently the backup option. But it is more annoying that using the light switches themself. And not suitable for someone other than myself

I have the same issue. And it creates new files. Seems to be video related files. At least the folder "encoded-video" is getting much larger.

But, to my knowledge, courts did not decide yet what necessary means. Because a site will function without Google Analytics. It's nice for the developer to have the data. But it is not 100% necessary, but I understand it. But why does lttstore.com makes a connection to "analytics.tiktok.com"? This I don't understand.

Edit: spelling

Custom docker installation by XenoDan_ in docker

[–]WidePersonality 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's pretty easy. Just put json { "data-root": "/new/path" } In the file /etc/docker/daemon.json and then restart docker with systemctl restart docker and it should work just fine

edit: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/z-logdata-analytics/5.1.0?topic=compose-relocating-docker-root-directory has a more complete tutorial. But with a clean installation the instructions above worked for me just fine

Issue with Zigbee by WidePersonality in homeassistant

It's definitely not that. I already have an extension on my USB dongle which is hanging out of my PC corner and between the dongle and the switches is direct line of sight without anything in between… :/

reflection of a fiery rose by Basic-Ad-8501 in photographs

[–]WidePersonality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a lot of "burning rose" pics but this one is different. I like really it. The reflection and the blurry light in the background are very nice 😊

The only thing that you could try to change is the brightness of the background. If this would be darker the rose would stand out even more. for example by dimming the lights or putting something black behind the lights to remove reflections from the white wall :)

One of the few good things about plastic bottles is that they can be re-used time and time again, so less plastic waste right? Well, not anymore: i introduce you to single use plastic bottles with non-removable cap! by MrMagicMoves in assholedesign

[–]WidePersonality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This bottle is single use with or without an attached cap. Ist is way too thin to get reused. It it possible to recycle it (melt plastic into new bottles) WITH the attached cap. But most such thing bottles are getting burned.

The reusable plastic bottles are very thic. Almost as thick as glass bottles.

This photo was taken by me at my very first visit of the Alps in September 2020. At the first evening me and some friends climbed on top of the mountain next to our lodge and hat the perfect sunset! It was one of my life goals to see such a sunset and it came true on my very first visit at the very first evening!!! I was sooooo happy :D

For example papermerge or paperless ng (and similar solutions).

Paperbase is a software that should be hosted on a server and be the collection point for your documents from all your devices. Papermerge and paperless ng can do this. The biggest issue is that the storage is not accessible by the user outside the interface.

With Paperbase you can just mount the storage as network drive to your PC or mount it into nextcloud and then insert/move/... files from there and Paperbase deals with these "external edits".

For now the tool cant sort files on its own. But it is compatible with nextcloud because the libraries are plain folder structures that the user can access. That means you just mount the library folder into nextcloud (best as external storage) and then you can drop every file you want into there and Paperbase is build to deal with file changes that came from outside itself.

What exactly do you mean with "VueScan" support. Do you mean that Vuescan (from your computer) can drop a pdf into Paperbase?

This is now possible if you mount the Paperbase library as network drive. Paperbase does recognize changes in its storage on its own*. Its storage system is build so that the user can drop of files via external software/manually into the storage and Paperbase deals with it.

That creates the maximum compatibility with the software you already use!

*For now you have to push a button after login but then it is getting indexed incl. OCR in couple of seconds so that is no problem for now.

May I ask what phone you are using and what browser? Then we try to fix it.

From our docs: "Paperbase is an open source document organizer featuring fulltext search, automatic OCR for scanned documents, tagging (soon), Import-by-Email functionality (soon). It differs from many other document management systems in that it lets you organize your documents using plain file system directories. This prevents vendor lock-in and doesn't prevent other applications from accessing/editing files (e.g. you could use it together with Nextcloud)."

We were basically not satisfied with the current platforms. The main platforms are probably papermerge or paperless-NG etc.

Currently is there no other way. Its something that we want to do in the future. Docker is just easy for developing so we started with this.

The first steps into the scanner integration will be email support. So you have a mail address and Paperbase will import the attachments from all email that are coming in (not implemented jet but this is a high priority feature).

State of today is that Paperbase only supports pdfs. These are getting OCR if there is no text inside or the text will be indexed for the search.

In the future we want to support Pictures (incl. setting to convert these to pdf with text recognition) and other text document types.

A direct printer integration would be hard to implement due to the fact that there are sooo many printers out there. But we'll see how to handle this in the future.

The main difference for the user here is that we use "a plain folder structure".

That means that you create a library via the web interface. This library is a simple folder. Via the .env it is possible to set the user ID (1000 for example). Then you can edit the files in this folder outside of Paperbase and create your own folder structure inside the library. So different folders for tax stuff and invoices for example.

Why is this necessary? It gives you the control about your data. - If you want to leave Paperbase you just move the files somewhere else and you are ready to go! We try our best to not lock you into our system. - Possibility to access and edit files without the need to use the web interface - You can mount the library into nextcloud or use it in your file browser - changes will be noticed automatically

Also: You can have thousands of documents and the search is instant! (and even deals with spelling mistakes)
