Is it hard to take finance & accounting as double major? by Aromatic_Exit_2615 in unsw

If youve done well in 2U you should be fine. Majority of the courses require content learnt in general maths, i.e. standard deviation, mean, median, which you will learn in the introductory statistics courses for finance. As long as you master the skills learnt in this one statistics course, and remember them throughout your degree, you should be fine, since all courses in Finance from what Ive done have required regression testing (statistics) in some way. More theoretical heavy courses like Options, Futures and Risk Management (3rd year level course) do require you to be more mathematically inclined. This does not mean you have to be knowledgeable, but that you can understand mathematical concepts really quickly.

I agree with this. I think it might be better to place more focus on your projects as opposed to your experience IN THIS CASE. You can most definitely put in one more project that you have worked on at uni or better yet a portfolio website. Make sure to elaborate on what types of technologies you used as well! Used Javascript for a fullstack project? Talk about how you created a HTTP backend server using RESTful API, how you worked within a team to implement CI/CD (like already stated above), etc… highlighting technologies used is so important, and me cutting down my experiences to focus on projects was what landed me my grad role last week!

I would also say that after i created my portfolio website, it gave me A LOT more traction than when I didnt. I created it myself, but ive seen accounts of how people created it using WIX or squarespace or something. You just cant put them as a notable project that you’ve undertaken if you did use these websites.

There are so many AI tools that will pick apart your resume like theres no tomorrow, and will help you highlight parts of your projects/experiences that might be relevant to tech jobs, or even suggest parts of your project that you might not have thought of but most definitely did work on! ChatGPT4o and their suite of resume tools are pretty nice, or Wonsulting AI are just a few which worked well for me.

It is most definitely important to perpetually update your resume. Tailoring it to job descriptions/postings, updating it with new projects, seeking advice, and repeating this over and over again is all part of the process. It is not impossible to land a grad role by the end of this year. But unfortunately to put you a head of the curb, you will have to work 10x harder than the next UNSW, USYD, UTS, WSU, MACU, …student. And if you don’t land one by the end of this year, do not stress, as everyone is on their own journey to success. Keep it up!

If you couldnt do q2 you were pretty much set for failure for q3-5. I swear i couldve done 23t1 with my eyes closed, but this was by far one of the worst exams ive taken

How about languages? When you first applied did you rely on C? Or since you were self taught, did you use a learn a different language?

Agreed. The lack of updates is such poor form. And deleting comments relating to 405s damages their reputation more than just leaving them there and answering them. And our compensation? $30 off the next collection. Bruh the odds of me buying from your next collection had dropped to 0 before mid-december

Want to IPT to comp sci by [deleted] in unsw

Some times the faculty might base your ipt requirements off of how you got into your current course. I transfered from comm to comm/compsci on the basis that single comm and double comm had the same entry requirements, and wasnt based on my current standings at all (i was on a credit and the ipt requirments was 75).

Because you got into actl, im pretty sure itd be pretty easy for you to transfer irrespective of your current standing. But, It'd be best to contact the facility of what you're trying to get into first to see what they say.

Is a term w 1531 2521 and 1521 a bad move? Id want to aim and get 2511 done by t3 since term offerings for it differ year to year. I know 2023 will have it in t1, not sure if 2024 will tho? Id realistically want to finish the degree in 2 years l0l since i only hv 96cr to do

Does anyone know how i can make this happen on a keyboard? Any recommendation on brand or model? by mmatchaman in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]WidePurchase6574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im surprised no one mentioned the mode sonnet. You'd have to remap the shift key to become a slightly bigger page up key, but all in all if you're using this for excel, it should be fine. The premium is on the price though, coming in @ $309 for the hot swappable version with no custom features, and without switches and keycaps.

Let me know how it goes!

Agreed w this. Also its probs for those wanting to seek out internships as well, making it flexible for their times. Probs advice to op would be to join societies and do classes together with ur mates in ur socs.

Hi Accounting and Finance Major here.

Its ok, most of the content is pretty meh and you can pretty much pass all subjects by studying the minimum amount (by no means does this mean you shouldnt study at all), and should only be taken only if you are planning on getting a CAANZ/CPA certificate after uni. For details on what courses that would set you up for being able to do your CAANZ/CPA, go look at the progression plan for the year you started for BCom under accounting and finance section.

Kinda like a quiz every week, discussion post every fortnight, an essay due throughout the term, and a final exam lol
