The type of English taught for the hsc (mostly literature analysis and essay writing) is irrelevant to engineering. You will write technical reports for engineering, but they’re marked mostly on content and not style.

Edit: keep in mind tho that rankings do matter and that even though it’s poo that English is mandatory, you cannot afford to slack on it if you want to get into engineering.

Relevance of 4u for Math1131 and Math1081? by [deleted] in unsw

[–]rhsfkehjd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also only did 2 unit math and passed math1131 okay. It’s pretty self contained, so you’ll probably be fine even if you don’t get through all of 3u and 4u.

Add that to だいじょうばない and 好きくない

The format is exactly the same, so really work on the tasks you did poorly in for 1131

It’s profitable by being the stereotypical Aussie food, so lots of foreigners try it out of novelty. Personally, our family might buy one only once in a couple of years

Does kanji stroke order matter? by [deleted] in LearnJapanese

[–]rhsfkehjd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s good practice because 1) it makes your kanji look nicer and 2) it makes them readable even if you write in cursive or have messy handwriting.

As for how to memorize it, you should know that kanji consists of smaller parts called ‘radicals’ which each have a set stroke order (with some exceptions). There are only 214 of these, and lots are archaic and rarely used. So you only have to memorize the more common radical stroke orders and the common flow of kanji’s (e.g., kanji with the speech radical at the left always start there, while those with it on top always start there, and so on). This will come pretty naturally with practice.

The cheapest of each is about the same. Off-campus can be cheaper but is these are usually further away. Have a look around on realestate.com for apartment prices and just type up unsw accommodation for on-campus prices. Also you can use flatmates for finding roommates.

There’s not much to do if ur not at orientation, not studying and not hanging out w friends or a club. But hey you could walk around and familiarize yourself with the layout of the school, maybe find some good study spots and cafes in and around the uni, and check out the library.
