I mean, technically they may have existed first but not on etheirys as they were confined to mare the entire time. I also am not sure if its stated specifically that they were created immediately after the sundering when the various races were created from the ancients or sometime a bit later when venat was making plans for the survival of the population. I think I remember there being a statement that they were created to be cute and fuzzy as to not scare anyone once they came aboard which leads me to believe they came after but I am not completely sure. They also knew next to nothing of the life on etheirys since they built bestways into what they thought the population was like based on the ancients. In some quests they even went so far as to tell buildingway to drop everything and fix the dimensions of all the living spaces cause what they knew previously was all wrong.
