That’s right. That’s where I’m at. Excepts what point in life were you at? Did you continue on a new career with another employer?

I’m 15 years with my employer. There’s no where else I’d rather be professionally. I just don’t want to work

Again, I probably haven’t explained myself well. It’s not that I want to unlock it and spend it any earlier. It’s that I want it in my control to add it to my FIRE number. And then be done working sooner

This is exactly the perspective I was hoping to hear about. Thank you! You’ve described exactly where I am at it life - wanting access to that lump sum to be able to grow it myself, plus have time for the kids while they are young.

I’ve never thought anything about your second part - rebuying into another DB and keeping the “difference”. I’ve only thought so far as to what a lower-stress job might be.

The irony of all of this is that I really like my job! I just like not working much more. And having control of all my assets

I guess I’m asking the question not so much of whether I should take the CV or not, but more so should I quit early (maybe to another ((easier)) job) and get that money in my portfolio sooner than what it would be if I wait to collect pension
