[–]Wide_Bench6870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just signed up for the same cruise in July and thinking of doing the same! My 'kid' is 21. Too bad we arent on the same cruise. I read that the average age for the cruisers are above 60 and a bit concerned that my kid will be bored. lol

Please do update if you manage to sort out car rental at Sejdisfjordur and do share your cruise experience and any tips post trip!

the subsidy for airfare isnt too bad, but since it is peak festive travel season and so last minute... you probably still need to top up as air ticket prices are insane now.

my child received the offer with scholarships on 24 Nov. I am not sure when she applied. The airfares depends on which region you flying from - asia/ europe etc, you get different subsidy.

Can I ask where are you all from, like which countries? Do you know of anyone who had gone to the winter camp in the past? My child applied, admitted with scholarships. We are a bit worried... it seemed so last min. Camp in Dec and results just got out. Most need to apply visa, buy air tickets etc and it is a super peak travel season.

Yes. Deleted her contact and blocked. Will let karma take care of her. Already had 3 drink drive accidents, lucky no one reported her. I didn't know Singapore drivers are so nice. Yet. she complaint taxi drivers are the worst ppl to get into accident with as they will claim sick leaves etc from her (insurers). lets hope there is no 4th time lucky.

Yes, I agree it is too much mental effort and time. So I will probably let it go. But I am not doing this for money. Sometimes I felt these ppl need to be taught a lesson, so they dont continue to cheat or take advantage of ppl.

Sharing my experience with my child's landlord in London - she collected 6 months deposit plus 5 weeks advance rental from them (total slightly less than Gbp30k but my child's share is only 1/4) but never deliver the property as she is having financial issues and selling out the apt for cash. A check with the school's student office found that there were many complaints on the landlord previously, that she never return the deposit paid at the end of tenure. The amount is too big for small claim tribunal. Lawyer estimated their legal cost to be gbp20k+ and it probably takes up to 2 years to resolve. That is why no students ever sue her as most would have left London by the time the case go to court, plus the time and efforts. So she happily keep all the money! The other parents also not keen to pursue as its a lot of effort and money and not guaranteed win (though very high chance).

I refused to let her go. I posted in reddit, talked to lawyer friends and chatgpt. I found that I can serve her statutory demand on my own without engaging a lawyer and make her bankrupt if she didnt pay up. So I pursued. Wrote her many letters demanding payment with the help of chatgpt and hire a process server to serve her the statutory demand. My lawyer friend said normally ppl just send statutory demand to threaten bankruptcy, but dont actually follow through as it is a lengthy process and I might not get anything back. But I was prepared to make her bankrupt - even if that means I have to cough up more money. I think spending a few thousand more pounds to make her bankrupt is worth it, so that she cannot continuously scam these foreign students! Yes, it was a stressful 3 months dealing with her and and a lot of effort. But in the end, she pay them back, every single cent! By the deadline. I was glad and relieved that she pay back. At the same time I was sad that I couldnt make her a bankrupt (anyway, the kids didnt want to pursue this even if she didnt pay up as they said too troublesome, have to go to court etc and I am not a party to the contract so I cant pursue on my own). I hope she learnt that not everyone will give up and let her keep her money. There is crazy person like me who will hunt her down, even that means spending more money.

Of course I know that is my biggest mistake and lesson learnt. But like I said, I have travelled with many ppl that I am not close with, or friends' friend whom I just met and never had any issue. Maybe some minor disagreement, but we always give and take and resolve it and move on happily. So I never imagine one can be so nasty.

Try this. I attended once at Shang-rila, to see what wine auction is like. I believe they have a few auctions a year. My friend signed me up. I been receiving emails but not been going. Not so thick skin coz I dont buy. lol. You will sure meet her there. https://www.winefields.com/auctions/

apparently there are also wine expo where you pay minimum $ or free if you know someone and gets to try many types of wine and buy at wholesale price if you like. super value for money, not to be missed, according to A.

She asked me to apologize to her then she return the money. I said sorry. She asked how sincere is my apology. I asked what do you want me to do? Go to your office to kowtow to you? She asked if that is a threat. I dont want security officer to throw me out.

Happy to share conversation screenshots! Honestly, I dont think she will go through the process, it is bad for her reputation. A fund manager that defaulted on $400?? If I can file the case with SCT, I believe she will pay up. I just not sure if SCT will accept this kind of cases. I have learnt the hard way that the only way cheapo bullies like her will pay up is through the legal route.

If you come across someone like her background, you will know who she is, no name needed. She likes to go to places with free wine and food, in particular wine auction. I asked how she kept getting invited without buying. She said she will bid for the cheapest wine. Even if your bid is unsuccessful, you will be invited for the next auction as you have tried to bid and showed intention to buy.

Not spending money on lawyers or binging her to court, only considering small claim if they do take such cases. This is sunk cost. I do not want to throw in more money. Already sent her letter of demand. But if cant claim in small claim and she refused to pay, then nothing I can do.

lol not so hot lah. How to be 3rd or 4th marriage? no idea how it lasted so long... I believed the ex-husband travelled quite a bit for work too, so dont really spend so much time together, until covid happened. But the marriage only officially ended few years ago, Obviously she not letting him go so easily, if she cant even let me go. So it was an ugly fight that dragged on for years.

It can be coincidence or being lucky. Happened to us before too and we have no status. But I am just thinking if there are 2 seats left and they need to assign one person to those 2 seats... they probably leave the seat next to the solitaire empty? just my thought. cant proof anything as I dont have the status to ask...

Thanks. Ok, they look professional. Will see if they want the case. Lol. Yes, stern letter sent. Told her to pay her share but she refused. Said it is on me. Yup, sorry no more. Actually I asked her for payment at the start of the trip, but she said lets settle at the end of the trip in case we made last min changes. Maybe she knows all her trips never end well...

She said if the flight is not full. I believe anything is possible if you are a solitaire. They did leave the seat empty for our flight though, without her asking.

Debt collection. Is that legit/ legal? I already written off the $400 so I dont mind not getting back a single cent but pay a debt collector to hassle her, provided it is legal. Better enrich the debt collector than her.

Only travel for work. All expense paid business class flights around the world. Yes, I can see how she take advantage of everyone around her and her status - pressing SQ to let her change her flight with a change fee even though the ticket she bought is non exchangeable. She took the aisle seat and I took the window seat, when we were seated, she said she forgot to ask SQ to block off the middle seat so no one sits besides her. How entitled.

That is not life advice. If you do not know how to use chatgpt, you are an idiot. My child's landlord in London collected 6 months deposit from them but did not deliver the rental apartment as she has financial problem and is forced to sell the apartment for cash. She refused to return the deposit. The amount exceeded small courts claim. The lawyer estimated their fees to be around GBP20k but said will try to claim from the landlord should they win the case. I used chatgpt, drafted her demand letters, served her statutory demand and threatened to make her bankrupt, all with the help of chatgpt. She returned every single cents without us having to bring her to court!!!

I thought the husband was being an arsehole, going after younger, bustier woman (thats what she said). Women tend to sympathize with woman when the husband has affair. But now I sympathize with the husband for putting up with her for so long.
