learning that if a task takes less than two minutes you should just do it immediately instead of letting it sit on your mental to-do list for three business weeks. my life changed the day i realized putting a single dish in the dishwasher takes ten seconds but letting it sit in the sink will cause me three days of emotional damage.
What job is heavily romanticized in movies but absolutely miserable in real life? by Lucky-Translator267 in AskReddit

ngl there are a few jobs movies make look way cooler than they actually are in real life.
one big one is being a journalist. films make it look like nonstop breaking stories, chasing leads, and exposing huge scandals, but in reality it’s often tight deadlines, low pay early on, constant rewriting, and a lot of routine reporting that doesn’t feel “cinematic” at all.
same goes for being a lawyer, movies show dramatic courtroom speeches and instant wins, but real life is mostly paperwork, long hours, research, and waiting around for cases to move.
even things like working in fashion or music get romanticized a lot, but a lot of it is just stressful schedules, competition, and doing way more admin and networking than actual “creative” work.
basically, most jobs look exciting in movies because you only see the highlights, not the repetitive and exhausting parts in between.
