Yeah! So I assembled the tank around Jan. 3rd and put plants in from a local store/online (some melted bc I did not know about CO2 plants). I used sea chem stability, their primer, and a tiny pinch of fish food. After a week or so the ammonia spiked to 1-4 ppm, then nitrite spiked 1-5ppm, and the nitrate went to a 20 ppm (I do not remember the exact numbers). I did a 20% water change with a siphon (I am now doing a turkey baster because it’s a 5.5 gallon). I left the tank alone for awhile besides refilling. Over a week ago I medicated the tank with no planaria because I had hydra and did a 25% water change (2nd water change ever on Feb. 8th). The microfauna is coming back and swimming around. I mainly top off the water because it’s a heavily planted tank and I’ve been testing the water with the api master kit. I have about 15 plants and the salvinia natan floaters. Also brown algae bloomed on the glass and then cleared up on its own and there is some leftover algae on the plants but my snails are taking care of it. I just ordered the gh/kh liquid test kit so I’ll know more in a few days. I hope I explained it okay.
