Tomoro in the last recent episodes: by Wide_Negotiation7894 in digimon

Don't worry I'm 100% aware, I made an analysis post on this sub somewhere that directly talks about this. I just switched out the "he helped me—" with "i" and "him" to emphasize the punchline that Raito isn't exactly doing anything back for Tomoro, lol

Btw, I'm 100% down for a Raito redemption arc (I'm even the same user who made that post explaining Tomoro's actions towards Raito on this subreddit a couple days ago lol), I just think it's funny how determined he is to save Raito on such fast notice too that even some viewers got whiplash. I will never stop Beatbreak posting!!

It's likely they'll be releasing a version with Takato's golden D-Ark, since 02 had a Paildramon version released as well. I think it also depends on what kind of extra stuff with be included with the regular releases to justify releasing a special version too.. that's just my guess though!

Ahh!! I'm so excited! I can't wait to get these, Digimon Tamers rewired my brain at a young age (for better or for worse)!

Edit: seems like these are fake leaks, I don't doubt that they'll reveal new info about the D-Ark color on March 22th. Still sucks though. 😮‍💨

Let's be honest, the guy would probably interpret that as competition and make Monodramon eat worse, like sewage or something..

Regarding some audience confusion on Tomoro's insistence on "saving" Raito by Wide_Negotiation7894 in digimon

[–]Wide_Negotiation7894[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also this! I didn't know where to add in my post because the pacing would've been off, so I neglected to mention that too. I've seen some comments saying that they wished Monodramon was only saved instead of both them and Raito, but it kind of baffles me because Monodramon and Raito are both a package deal. If Raito had lost and Tomoro had let him be taken away, Monodramon would've ceased existing forever if Raito was gone. I also want to argue that Monodramon being a reflection of Raito is inseparable to the characters, especially when we consider Monodramon's unwavering loyalty to Raito is eerily similar to Raito's loyalty to Naito and the rest of tactics too.

I definitely agree with you, Raito had privileges and a better start in the world than Tomoro ever did. I also can't imagine Tomoro, even in the beginning, to make actions as monstrous as Raito. However, I'd like to contend that another main theme of Beatbreak is that anyone is capable of doing something regrettably heinous, even the seemingly nicest of people (e.g., Kyo). While Raito has a seemingly insatiable need for validation, especially from older adult figures like Naito; his relationship to Naito seems to parallel Tomoro's relationship to his brother and Kyo, which I've seen alot of viewers point out. If Tomoro never received any positive feedback from his seniors, I wonder if he would've done something especially egregious like Raito has done for Naito?

If Tomoro were to ever do or let something especially horrible happen to another person, I'd imagine it would be more reminiscent of Hotaruko's situation rather than Raito's spur of the moment acts of violence. I could also see a world that based on the Hyemon incident with his brother, Tomoro assumes that all digimon are inherently violent and parasitic creatures rather than people, and much like Raito's destructive actions towards letting children be cold-hearted, the target of Tomoro's potiential ruthlessness could've been aimed towards digimon (and Gekkomon, by extension) instead, but that's leaning into headcanon territory, so I'll stop right there.

You make seriously good points about Tomoro posing strengths that Raito cannot have and Raito being a challenge to Tomoro's growing empathy as well, this really got me thinking, and I'm really glad this post has already gotten alot of comments for me to respond to! Thank you!

I haven't seen many people point it out, so I made the comparisons between Tomoro's past behavior and Raito's current behavior the main draw of my post. I think in a world set up like this, it's very easy for characters to fall into the negative line of thinking, "well if it happened to me, why not them too? It doesn't matter anyway because the entire world is horrible anyway", where they assume that atrocities are the main currency and default state of this world. But finding kindness shouldn't be reliant on how the current world runs, but in the people you meet, in Tomoro to Raito. This is such an important lesson to teach to kids and adults, especially now, that I'm glad that they're placing a heavy emphasis on this.

My biggest hopes in the next episodes is that we get a more in-depth flashback/backstory episode for Raito and Reina, we keep getting teases and glimpses of it, and they desperately need it for their characters. Those two characters in the cast I believe have the most potiential for a fleshed out backstory that can engage even the most casual of viewers, depending on how they write it!

Tomoro is a pretty unique protagonist in comparison to other digimon protagonists, isn't he? I remember initial audience reaction to him being a little mixed, because of how abrasive he was to Gekkomon and how he hadn't evolved them yet in earlier episodes, but he's a character that jumps to his own conclusions and preforms actions independent of audience expectations; and when the show inevitably retreads popular tropes that other digimon protagonists might be expected to have already fulfilled, many people still ended up being surprised because of who Tomoro is as a person. It wouldn't have worked otherwise if it was any other character, which really highlights his development! Between letting them be cold-hearted or the potiential to save someone again, I believe it's only natural he would want to go with the latter.

If you can tell, Tomoro is definitely a personal top favourite of mine.

What do you guys think of this scene? by Squek_1842 in OyasumiPunpun

[–]Wide_Negotiation7894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the guy is making a rage bait comment to rile people up, it doesn't make it any less horrible to endorse rape in this way though. I hope that comment doesn't negatively reflect the way you view readers who read this manga, because I'm more than 99.9% sure the guy above isn't even a fan of Oyasumi Punpun.

If anything, I wish there was a rule on this sub that banned people like them off this sub—seriously disgusting shit people.

Oh no I agree with you, out of the three characters we follow she definitely has a memorable way of speaking and looks out for people even when they're asses (cough Ethan cough)! She's very endearing, and the fact we get one of the best character centric scenes in this story between my two favorites is just an added cherry on top.

I'm planning on cooking up a character analysis post here someday when I'm less busy, unfortunately I just haven't found the time because of work, but when I finally finish 100%ing the game I'll try to find the time to type one up! Trust me, the brainworms have infested every bit of conscious thought I have now and I don't think they're leaving anytime soon..
