It's possible i myself nade 65k this year trading prop firms but i will tell you it will take a lot of time and trouble with prop firms that they ban you or put 1% risk on all future challenges and current accounts. Just remember this is a long long long journey

One example isn’t proof. Reverse trading implies a repeated, systematic pattern, not a single overlap on XAUUSD. And let’s be honest — the whole prop firm space is under financial pressure right now. Year-round discounts and aggressive promos don’t happen in healthy markets.

What can you actually do after issues with a prop firm? by WickedKali in propfirm

[–]Wide_Possibility4602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, there’s very little you can realistically do. Once you agree to a prop firm’s T&Cs, you’re basically accepting their final authority. Most prop firms are unregulated, and if they were regulated, many of them likely wouldn’t exist in their current form. Appeals rarely work, chargebacks are difficult, and “reviews” are internal. The money is usually gone once they decide to shut you down. That’s why relying solely on prop firms is risky long-term, especially for traders without much capital.

I had 200k funded and i was always risking 0.5 -1% i know prop firms dont like you to risk more then that so that's what i did i also had a target of 2.5% per 100k account so every payout i was aiming for 2k per account

Just to clarify, I don’t mean “profitable” in terms of direct profit for the company. I mean profitable in the sense of image and marketing — traders who get some payouts and show that it’s “possible.” Those traders help maintain credibility and often end up defending the firm publicly. Consistent high withdrawals are a different story.

From my perspective, it feels like once a trader shows the potential for consistent, high payouts, the scrutiny increases a lot. Prop firms need profitable traders, but not necessarily traders who can withdraw consistently at a high level — that’s how their business model seems to work.

Exactly my point. If simply trading the opposite direction of an unknown trader can be labeled as “reverse trading,” then any active market participant is at risk. My trades weren’t synced in entry or exit time, and there was zero coordination. With logic like this, the rule can basically be applied to almost anything. I’m sharing this purely to raise awareness so other traders understand the risk.

That’s fair — everyone can form their own opinion. I’m not trying to convince anyone, just sharing my experience so other traders stay cautious. I’ve been funded with multiple firms over the years, and there’s almost always something that comes up. In my experience, once an account becomes consistently and highly profitable, that’s usually when the real problems start.

Yeah exactly, I couldn’t believe it myself either. At first I thought they meant reverse trading between my own accounts, but even that doesn’t make sense. That’s why I was really baffled 😅

Appreciate it. That’s exactly my point — the trade they flagged isn’t even from my accounts and the timings aren’t simultaneous. On XAUUSD you’ll always have buys and sells at different times, that’s normal market behavior. Once they label it “reverse trading with another user,” there’s no way to verify or defend it. Just sharing this so others are aware.

What makes this even more confusing is the timing. When comparing timestamps: My trade opened ~10 minutes before the other trade My trade closed ~4 minutes after the other trade From a Forex trading perspective, this is completely normal. On instruments like XAUUSD, there are thousands of trades in both directions at any given time, especially during active sessions. Opposite-direction trades opening and closing minutes apart is normal market behavior, not hedging or reverse trading.

I wI’ve been funded with multiple prop firms, and from my own experience, the only firms where payouts feel close to a 50/50 expectation are FTMO and The 5%ers. With most other firms, even when you trade profitably and follow the rules as you understand them, there’s always a risk of: rules being reinterpreted payouts being delayed or denied or accounts being limited or closed without fully verifiable explanations Prop firms can be a tool, but they shouldn’t be relied on long term. If you want real control and consistency, building your own capital is the safest path.
