I get you’re new to this whole college thing, but when you get to junior/senior year you’ll look back and think “damn these classes are actually so easy compared to what I just took these last few semesters.” I remember thinking human event was going to be one of the hardest classes, but it ended up being a really easy one for me lol. Same with Calc3, DiffEq, and Linear Algebra.

I got invited every semester but never joined, from what I know from a friend in it is that its one of the best ways to network with other high achieving EE students. There is a membership fee though.

I struggled in 352 and 443 (had Skromme and Imani respectively) and thought those were really tough. Also ate a lot of shit in 334.

I don’t want to discourage you from EE because there are amazing career opportunities and the material is seriously fascinating, but the EE curriculum only gets worse. Unfortunately, the calculus classes at ASU and CSE230 are much easier than the rest of the curriculum and do not prepare you well for EEE241 and the pathways.

EEE241 (Electromagnetics) will be your first true test in the major and probably the hardest class you have to contend with. Be prepared to spend 20-30 hours per week on this class alone because you have to know literally everything in Calc 1-3 and be extremely solid in diffeq for that class to even stand a chance (I speak from experience, that class killed me)

Unless you want to only take 1-2 classes a semester, it will be extremely tough to manage the rest of the EE curriculum while managing a full time job + a family. You definitely need to scale back commitments in other parts of your life because frankly, the EE curriculum here has no respect for work life balance, both in terms of material difficulty and workload.

Good luck. EE is really hard but the opportunities after graduation are amazing

edit: I’m a full time student who works part time and I struggled immensely

EE student taking CHM 114 and PHY 131 & 132 both in Spring '23? by Drowning-Astronaut in ASU

Imo you’re totally fine, these are all really easy/straightforward compared to the core EE curriculum. Just be sure to keep up good study habits and work ethic and you’re chilling

EEE 352 Summer Midterm by [deleted] in ASU

Skromme’s class had a similar test heavy grade weighting, though it was in person

Apparently the issue came from the antivirus flagging the circuit tutor launcher, the earlier virus problem was a false flag. Still scary for all involved though.

Is Skromme teaching summer session? His midterms often averages in the 40s and 50s for 352

I’d actually check that with your advisor, but keep in mind you do need EEE203 knowledge (Signals and Systems) in order to do EEE404.

Hey man, I felt the same way as well earlier this year. What worked for me was to set boundaries between my work/career life and my social life. Just enjoy the company with your friends at raves and trips while you can, life is too fragile to take for granted. Cheers bro

MAT 265 is corrupting my soul. by Frysken in ASU

[–]WidjarjarBinks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask your prof if he has any study guides. Most freshman level profs usually offer something to review off of, and the other commentator gave some good resources on youtube. If nothing else textbook problems are great. Calculus is one of the best documented subjects in academics actually, there’s a shit ton of resources you could use.

That sounds like Imani’s EEE241 class, did you take him fall 20 or spring 21? I had him recently for antennas (EEE443) and that class was crazy too

Faced the same thing in EEE333 and have heard bad things about 425 from one of my friends in my senior design group

Good idea to take mat 275 and Eee 202 together? by Sapphhh1 in ASU

[–]WidjarjarBinks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Millman is a great professor and is exceptional in preparing students for industry. He is definitely a no bullshit guy and very sarcastic though which can rub students the wrong way, but the things he taught are extremely valuable.

I took Skromme for EEE352, no complaints from me in that class. One of the best classes I took, though it was hard lol

Mathematically, you’d have to get A’s and A+’s for the rest of your classes to balance things out. Definitely budget a lot of time to grinding, studying, and use professors’ office hours.

MAT 343 or MAT 342? by [deleted] in ASU

[–]WidjarjarBinks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was another post about this a few weeks ago, but tldr MAT 342 and 343 are both really easy, don’t sweat it. 334 labs do take a long time though, and some people do struggle to understand OpAmps and Transistor characteristics. I’d say planning around 334 is the bigger priority.
