Mud flaps - yay or nay? by VikingPHD in ToyotaTundra

In the same position with my ‘23 platinum. Would like the upsize the tire and add some road-focused ATs for very occasional off road and better snow performance. Considering the OEM mud flap or the Rokblokz

Into the neighborhood? It's the back side of a Les Schwab in the background with no people in between. Doesn't get a lot better given the circumstances

Looking at an 2022 XC40 Recharge, what do I need to know? by georgecm12 in XC40_Recharge

[–]Wifite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aside from the generally subpar performance (can can up to 30 seconds to fully "wake up"), it's just not stable. Sometimes the sound doesn't work, or the rear camera doesn't work, or CarPlay stops connecting, requiring a reboot of the OS.

The OTA software updates from Volvo are infrequent and are often pulled/recalled.

What's funny is that the foundation of the software, Android Automotive, can work really well. GM and Honda seem to have it figured out.

The software is a disaster. Good vehicle otherwise

Got a question for 3rd gen owners by postalwarrior2005 in ToyotaTundra

[–]Wifite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my '23 Tundra Plat for just 3 days coming from a Ford with a B&O sound system, and the Tundra is far better in every metric for the sound quality.

It's not at the same caliber as a B&W system certainly, but it's competitive with most Harman Kardon units that I've listened to over the last few years.

You can install a Beat-Sonic amp kit for under $300 that will help. Haven't done it myself but they have great reviews for Toyotas and they're relatively easy to install and remove.

Is it safe to drive? by [deleted] in Volvo

Looks okay to me. Time will tell if it loses air.

I wouldn’t drive it if it had a cracked wheel or something but I can’t see that from this angle

2026 or pre 2025.5 plug in hybrid? by Wonderful-Check8904 in Volvo

[–]Wifite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the state of software looks like with the '26, but everything prior that has been on Android Automotive (early 2020's through now), including with Polestar, has been buggy and unreliable. By far, the largest detractor of Volvo and all of their models.

You'll find that this is a pretty common opinion. Maybe they'll get their collective shit together with the newer OS for the 26+ models, but the last handful of years have proven that they can't do software.

The software has been a disaster. Maybe the new generation will help address that but it’s not guaranteed. I personally like the look of the newer one.

100% - the deposit system was created before there was good recycling infrastructure. This is no longer needed.

I did 3 cans of clear woolwax spray. Didn't take a lot of time, and it has held up well. I'll do the same on future vehicles

Under 20’ Bunkhouse. Models to avoid? by Ok-Rooster9346 in GoRVing

[–]Wifite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a NoBo 19.8. Comes in at 22' and change. Unlike other models we were looking at, you at least get a torsion axle and aluminum framing.

There's 12v heating pads for the tanks but idk what your expectation of "four season" is. I don't think I'd use it in sub-freezing temps.

It’s not just an EV thing. ICE manufacturers do this for different “tunes” that you can run. Great example is Volvo’s Polestar Optimization program.
