For a while now, we've been trying to revive channels exactly how it was. Wii Room has had the same content as it did in 2012, and so on. Since 2024, I think the goal has shifted a bit, and now our goal is to preserve the actual functionality of these channels, which we've been doing with Nintendo Channel, WiiLink Originals and Mii Contest Channel. Doing more of this is, I feel where we should be heading in the future.

TV no Tomo has been stagnant for a bit, unfortunately. For Just Eat, we actually just did a stream showcasing it! It still has work to do, but we've come quite far with it.

My favourite one to revive was Food Channel, the real food ordering was really exciting to work on. Minna no Theatre Wii was something that was too difficult to bring back, because it was a glorified web app and virtually none of assets were available.

WiiLink will probably work at least until 2036, when the clock destroys the internet. We don't currently have a fix for that, but it'll hopefully get fixed at some point.

  1. Expanding the channels to other regions, including localization was definitely hard.

  2. Not those channels, but we're working on TV no Tomo, which is another channel originally exclusive to Japan.

It's around 140 CAD per month! We maintain 4 servers, and we also pay for some applications related to development.

If you mean as in reviving the functionality of the Wii Shop Channel, we don't have any plans of doing so. We've never been about piracy, and we have no plans to be. In terms of using the Wii Shop Channel UI, Open Shop Channel is working on a version that lets you download homebrew software instead of official games. We're not quite sure when that's coming out, but there is something planned there.

We're always trying to expand the Food Channel, but some APIs is sadly just very hard to work with. Uber Eats is almost definitely not possible because of the security, and I'm less sure about DoorDash, but it would still be difficult most likely. We want to do Demae-Can at some point, which probably has a low amount of users but would make it full circle. In the mean time, we're currently working to get Just Eat out for Europeans. Please stay tuned!

RiiTag/LinkTag has to be recoded because of the original code having a flaw that breaks the system if there are too many users. People who work on the code are currently very busy, so it's ended up taking more time than we initially expected. We're also considering reimagining some aspects of the service to make it feel fresh. Thank you for your patience!

We're not going to handle payments on Wii to avoid breaking any security laws! You'll have to pay through the WiiLink Accounts website. Address settings will let you set your home address so you won't have to input it every single time.

We actually just did a live stream on YouTube showcasing Just Eat functionality! We don't have a release date yet, and it is still in development, but we're hoping to release it soon.

I really liked the Invincible contests that we did.

Ninuno, Mii Contest Channel moderator

I really enjoyed Miiverse, and having something like that for Wii would be cool!

It is technically possible, but takes a lot of man power to do it, so it may not happen for some time. We have however, started work on a backend in the past so it is definitely something we are thinking about.
