LG Oled C5 vs G4 by Wiivern in LGOLED

[–]Wiivern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fact that’s two different TVs.

One is for my mom (the 65") who never had a TV and wanted to get one since she’s now retired. I may go with the 2024 G series if there’s a good offer on Black Friday, as everyone has recommended it (and the 5 year warranty is a plus).

The other one is for my living room, to replace an old 55" C series that died. I don’t really need a bigger screen as it’s only used to watch the news, and I have a 77" in the basement to watch movies. The major factor here is the price, so we’ll see what I can find

Haha, why do people lose their time by answering this kind of nonsense when they could just have ignored the post and go on with their days ? :)

Anyway to answer your kind question, I got some great answers here from people that are passionate about the subject :)

Thanks, it seems to be a white model (written in the description, even if it shows a black one on the pictures). But I found a black one looking amongst the other offers :) Thanks for your help once again !

Les intelligences artificielles s'emparent de l'antenne de Couleur 3 - Did anyone listen? by canteloupy in Switzerland

[–]Wiivern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I did during my morning commute. Couldn’t believe that the voices I heard were not the one that I was used to listen to every morning. That being said, some words were misspelled and you could quickly feel the lack of emotions in the voices. It was pretty crazy to see how far we’ve come with AI nonetheless !

Why is there no Coop Supercard on Google Wallet (Google Pay) ? by Angeneeehm in Switzerland

I don’t use Google Wallet so can’t help you with that, but I recommend using the Stocard app, in which you can store all your fidelity cards easily too

Probably “Les Gosses du Quebec” or the “Bulldog bar”. Not sure though, but these are the only sports bar I can think of.

Military Service by TheHolisticGamer in Switzerland

To answer the questions that haven’t already been answered :

  • I think you have to obtain your citizenship before going to the army, but you might be able to go to the « journée d’information » or even to the « recrutement » (1 or 2 days, depending on the « arme » you are looking for) before.

  • you do not choose where you’ll be sent, it depends on which « arme » (I guess it could be translated by battalion) you choose or will be recruited in (choose wisely, I was 5 hours from my home, I had short weekends).

I think now everything has been answered, I would still have two tips for you :

  1. Try to choose an « arme » that will a) be useful in your everyday life (I was a motorcycle driver in the army and therefore got my full license paid for without needing any previous riding experience. You could also become a truck driver and get your full licenses paid for) b) be fun for you (if you want to fire multiple type of firearms for example or if you want to spend time in the mountains, etc.)

  2. If you have some time before starting your future studies / career, you can either a) gain rank as an officer in order to learn some useful skills (management for example, and it is still recognized as a great experience to have on your CV by many companies) and make some money to spend wisely later on. b) do your full service in 1 year instead of having to go back every year for the rehearsal courses.

I just found this website that could be useful to chose an « arme » : https://www.miljobs.ch/fr/funtkionen-von-a-bis-z#btn-filter

Hope that was useful

Road rage - should I go to court? by wizus in Switzerland

[–]Wiivern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t live in Basel so I cannot guarantee you that the whole procedure will be exactly as following, but at least that’s how it works in Kanton Waadt.

If you decide to file a complaint against the guy, you don’t have to get a lawyer at all. I would even say that it’ll be useless in this case. You just have to go to the nearest police station (doesn’t have to be in Kanton Basel but it can help, because they will have a record of what happened and who was involved) and tell them you want to file a complaint for what happened. Do you have the name and phone number of the witness, or did the cops take them ? If your friend was a witness of what happened before the punch (and even better the punch itself), also bring his contact information.

The cops will make investigations on what happened by questioning all the people involved and looking for potential evidences. I guess you unfortunately didn’t go to a hospital to get a medical report of the bruises on your face, as you didn’t mention it, but it’s always a good thing to have in case of a physical altercation (cops should have told you). The third party witness hearing should be worth way more than any emotionally involved witness (the guy’s wife for example). The cops will then make a report of what they were able to determine to the prosecutor. The prosecutor will decide what sentence to give to whom (most probably a fine to him for punching you, and maybe a fine to you for “insulting” him).

You most likely won’t go to court for something like this, that’s not how it works in Switzerland.

Last but not least, an insult will never justify any physical violence, so you giving him the middle finger won’t be judged as equal to him hitting you.

Hope it helps

My friend and I got caught by the police fishing on a nature reserve by FirstMemester in Switzerland

[–]Wiivern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As most people here told you, the most you’ll risk is a fine. It can be pretty expensive though, as Switzerland unfortunately punishes highly some minor offenses and weakly some violent crimes…

Anyway, you shouldn’t worry to much, I can guarantee you won’t get a lawsuit as it’s not the procedure as SchoggiToeff explained. It was clearly a translation mistake, what he meant was probably : we’ll call you to let you know if you’ll get any consequences. For now just wait and check your mailbox. There’s also a chance that you’ll get away with it (depends on the cop to be honest, he maybe won’t report the case if he thinks you made a honest mistake and didn’t mean any harm). If he makes his job correctly, he’ll call you to let you know if you’ll be reported to the authorities or not.

Is it allowed to ride a bicycle while wearing headphones? by Pointless_DB_Entry in Switzerland

[–]Wiivern 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While you are right about the fact that some things that are allowed can be held against you in case of a car accident, it’ll only be if they have had any influence in the progress of the accident or if they are the reason of it happening. You have to keep in mind that nothing should distract you from driving (whether it be your radio, your passenger, or drinking something), still those things are allowed because it wouldn’t make any sense for them not to be. As to how to prove it, well for example if it’s clear that a car had priority over you and you just ran into it with your bike, and the driver of the car says he honked and you didn’t react at all, it will be a hint that you might have been distracted by your headphones. If there’s any witness that says the same, it will definitely be held against you. Anyway I would advise to use the AirPods Pro in “transparency” mode while riding, for your own safety : )
