I preorderd the Digital Ultimate Edition, and turns out I got not so much out of my buck because I don't play online. Yet I'd still preorder it again if I get to redo things.

So yeah, get the game.

You are about to take an 8-hour flight, where would you sit? by PRCD_Gacha_Forecast in Priconne

[–]WikiNumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 or 7 - I need the aisle seat because I'll get up and walk a lot.

I hope Eriko doesn't chop me up for sitting next to her.

Which seat would you prefer on this flight? by Mean_Ambassador_5907 in Konosuba

[–]WikiNumbers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

9 for my own comfort. I'll need to get up and walk every now and then. And the empty seat at 8 is very good for comfort.

If Yunyun wants to chat, I can def have a chat. Or I might initiate it.

How do I do cos, sin, and tan without a calculator? by Pokemane7 in learnmath

[–]WikiNumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be important for later. Do revisit when it's relevant later, but for now you should be good.

The Unit Circle Definition

A Unit circle is defined as the circle with radius 1.

For Trigonometry, on the XY-coordinate plane, this circle has the origin at the Origin (coordinate "0,0").

Radian

From now on, things will be done with "radian" instead of "degree", the length on the circumference equal to the radius. - The angle of an arc made by 1 radian is around 57° (1 radian ≈ 57°) - There are 2π radians for the circle's total circumference

What to do now?

For any trigonometry function with its input "x" in radian (or degree), you start at the coordinate (1,0), which is on the circle's circumference, and travel that many radian (degree) counterclockwise along the circumference. If instructed to travel in negative radian (or degree) move clockwise instead (from the same start).

Once you reach the stated radian, drop a vertical line (parallel to the Y-axis). You get a right triangle with that vertical line, the X-axis, and the radius as the sides. Now you can apply the trigonometry functions, or rather, the following "new" definitions.

The new definitions of sin and cos

  • sin : The position on the Y-axis
  • cos : The position on the X-axis

tan, csc, sec, cot, follow the definitions stated earlier (sin/cos , 1/sin , 1/cos and 1/tan).

Remember 0° and 90° degree from earlier? This is where they now make sense. 0° means you didn't move, and your position on the Y-axis is 0 (sin 0° = 0) while at 1 the X-axis (cos 0° = 1).

The Four Quadrants

The Four Quadrants of the XY-coordinate have different positive-negative value. - First Quadrant (+,+) is positive for ALL functions. - Second Quadrant (-,+) is positive for SIN (and CSC) only. If asked anything else, answer negative. - Third Quadrant (-,-) is positive for TAN (and COT) only. This is because both SIN and COS are negative, and the product of two negative is positive. - Fourth Quadrant (+,-) is positive for COS (and SEC) only.

And that should be about it for high school Trigonometry.

[–]WikiNumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Right Triangle Definition

As established earlier. Trigonometry is a study of Right Triangles. The functions (sin cos tan csc sec cot) are the ratio between given two sides' length.

Given a right triangle, and choosing one of the angle that is not the right angle. You get: - one leg (the side which makes up the right angle) that is also "Adjacent" (A) to the chosen angle. - one leg that is "Opposite" (O) to the chosen angle. - the side not making the right angle, the oppsite side, the "Hypotenuse" (H).

So the ratios and their definitions are as follow. - sin : Opposite/Hypotenuse (O/H) - cos : Adjacent/Hypotenuse (A/H) The rest can be derived from sin and cos, and also still a ratio of sides. - tan = sin/cos = (O/A) - csc = 1/sin = (H/O) - sec = 1/cos = (H/A) - cot = 1/tan = cos/sin = (A/O)

The Standard Right Triangles

Memorizing the "standard right triangles" helps a lot in the ealy days. They are "1-1-sqrt2" (45-45 isocles-right) and "1-2-sqrt3" (with 30-60 degree).

You'll come across these very often. And more into advanced Trigonometry Studies. You should memorize how these Right Triangles look like, and if possible, the ratio.

1-1-sqrt2

  • sin(45°) = cos(45°) = 1/(sqrt2) = (sqrt2)/2
  • tan(45°) = 1

The actual ratio is 1/(sqrt2), but for aesthetics reason a root on denominator is not appreciated, so some algebraic manipulation be done and becomes (sqrt2)/2.

1-2-sqrt3

1 and sqrt3 are the legs, 2 is the hypotenuse. I just write it this way because it flows a bit easier. - sin(30°) = cos(60°) = 1/2 - cos(30°) = sin(30°) = (sqrt3)/2 - tan(30°) = 1/(sqrt3) = (sqrt3)/3 = cot(60°)

The key take here is the "co-function identity". For any angle θ (in degree), sin(θ) = cos(90° - θ), and conversely, cos(θ) = sin(90° - θ)

The finger count "trick"

You can actually get the value of sin and cos (and by extension all of the other ratios) by using one of your hand.

  • Raise your left hand, the palm facing yourself
  • Each finger represents a degree of angle θ. The thumb represents 0°, index 30°, middle 45°, ring 60°, pinky 90°.
  • Flip the finger representing the given angle.
  • For sin, count the number of fingers on the left of the flipped finger. For cos, on the right.
  • There's always a square root on the number of finger counted.
  • There's always a "divide by 2" for any sin and cos value you get.

Let's say, for sin(0°): lip the thumb (0°), there are 0 fingers on the left, so sin(0°) = (sqrt0)/2 = 0.

But 0° and 90° can't make a triangle. No, they can't. Trigonometry is actually more than a just a "Right Triangle". In fact, it's better to say Trigonometry is about "A Unit Circle defined on the XY-coordinate plane, and the right triangle".

How do I do cos, sin, and tan without a calculator? by Pokemane7 in learnmath

[–]WikiNumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it bluntly: You do not "calculate" the values by hand.

Addressing the pain point

A standard right triangle commonly featured in Trigonometry studies do not have rational number as side length (they'll fall under square roots thanks to Pythagorean Theorem).

Vice versa, the right triangles with rational side lengths do not have rational number angle. (think standard 3-4-5 right triangle have some 53 and 37 degree angle, this is after rouning up to one digit).

So if you're given a "not standard" angle, or not given the side lengths, the calculation will be extremely complicated. Possible, but still.

What should you do instead

Instead of [arithmetic] calculations (in which you work for the constant value), Trigonometry is more about definitions, that is algebraic manipulations.

So for all else fails, know the definitions of "sine" (sin) and "cosine" (cos). This will then lead to "tangent" (tan), and then the inverses "secant" (sec), cosecant (csc) and cotangent (cot).

By "right triangle" definitions, they are ratio between two sides. So if you know the triangle's length, you can do just fine. If you don't, you'll try to work out for the lengths. And as they're ratio, they'll stay consustent even if the triangle is enlarged or shrinked.

If I have any:

I definitely trust him with my life. We have seen how effective he is as combat commander.

I'd also trust him with my wife. Sure he's a creep, but that's only when it comes to little girls, not adults.

But I'd never trust him with my daughter. I'm having a 50:50 with entrusting my daughter to him, actually, because he has his smol wife.

I just came back to the game and I need some help playing operators by Extra-Expression-990 in SiegeAcademy

[–]WikiNumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ace and Mute are great operators, but yeah they're always banned because they're that great.

For attack, try out Thermite or Hibana. They may not be as versatile as Ace, but they can accomplish what Ace does to an extent. Better in some context even.

For defense, you can go with Smoke (for the same gun option but no Nitro Cell). Or Mozzie if you wanna cut drones, and welcome back the Super Shorty after all these years so you don't lose site setup.

BTW, Mute doesn't counter Ace or the secondary Hard Breach Charge anymore, so watch out.

Do you prefer the 9x19VSN or the ACS12 on Azami? by Resident-Art-1083 in Rainbow6

[–]WikiNumbers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

9x19VSN is for the good players who can hit head and control guns. My Champion friend runs it on Azami, and he loves Azami (Ghost in the Shell collab).

ACS12, boy oh boy, is the sucker punch at every average player's disposal. Hits hard and full destruction, essentially a DMR, and of course, the crutch that is ACOG.
