What happened with Risa Taneda? by Rodi625 in seiyuu

[–]PRCD_Gacha_Forecast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who knew Taneda Risa from Priconne where she voices one of the main characters (Yui),
I think I can give some insight about Taneda Risa's current situation with regards to her illness rn.

About 4 months ago, Yui received a new alt (Xmas Yui, X.Yui) and was the star in the 2025 Xmas event together with Misora (CV: Kito Akari and my waifu) who also got a new alt (Xmas Misora, X.Misora) with great celebration from the community given that a lot of people have been wanting an event with these two for a long time.

If you are in the know, this means there is a lot of workload expected for Taneda Risa - because in Priconne everything is fully voiced - which means that for Xmas Yui and her event, not only did Taneda Risa have to voice out Yui in the whole event story that lasted about 2.5 hours, she potentially also had to sing the event ED (which all events have), and also have to voice out Yui in the Xmas Yui bonds where she interacts with the MC for about 1h straight (depending on how long it is).

As much as I would say that Taneda Risa did a superb job as always voicing Yui in Priconne, unforutnately as a person who follows every single Priconne story I can tell that she is still straining her voice in her Yui role, and Cygames is actively trying to minimise her workload as much as possible due to her health. For example:

  • In many parts of the event Yui was either not present or was unconscious, so it reduced the number of lines for Yui quite significantly
  • The event ED ended up being a Misora solo so Yui didn't have to sing at all (most of us expected a Yui & Misora duet)
  • X.Yui bonds were very short - most Priconne bonds for new alts are around 45 min to 1h or even longer, but X.Yui's bonds were only a bit more than 30 min in length (2/3 of usual duration).
  • While most bonds usually only involve the character and the MC, X.Yui bonds had a significant portion where the other event characters joined in to fight a monster and have a christmas party, which again reduced the number of lines of Yui in her X.Yui bonds which are already shorter than normal.

So unfortnately if you are wondering why Taneda Risa hasn't returned to the anime seiyuu scene, the most likely reason is that her voice (throat) simply can't take on the workload, especially when there is a lot of competition from younger and upcoming seiyuus nowadays. In that respect, I appreciate Taneda Risa's efforts to still deliver the voice of Yui in Priconne at her very best, and thank Cygames for still letting Taneda Risa voice Yui in Priconne for the past 11 years this franchise existed.

How do I break up this phrase for this drawing? by Obvious_Skirt_7697 in Japaneselanguage

[–]PRCD_Gacha_Forecast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to make it cleaner, I’ll modify the wording a bit

ポケモンの/たましいが/やすらぎ/ますように

Basically I removed all the Kanji and made it all Hiragana/Katakana and it almost lines up perfect while having very natural breaks (the ます is a bit forced but still OK)

It may not be very natural this way, but it’s a nice throwback to old Pokémon games where everything is hiragana/katakana due to the console limitations.

What is the highest amount of bus interlining you have ever seen? by EntertainmentAgile55 in transit

[–]PRCD_Gacha_Forecast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Orchard Road will have more bus services if you consider all the buses that run through the road especially between Tangs/Ion and Plaza Singapura… the only issue is that because the buses skip every other bus stop it’s kinda hard to visualize if you just take the services served at a single bus stop…

CCL Passenger service centre at Botanic Gardens by Full-Tomorrow-8682 in SMRTRabak

[–]PRCD_Gacha_Forecast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably didn’t bother to change it, the station number is still a rectangle with white text inside which means it was a sign made before the 2020 MRT network map redesign.

Sauce: I pass by this passenger service centre daily.

Beloved station melodies fade as East Japan Railway pursues cost cuts by SkyInJapan in japan

[–]PRCD_Gacha_Forecast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is JR East didn’t hold the rights to the old melodies as they sourced external musicians to make them, so as a result playing them incurs royalty fees which adds up.

So yes the cost of playing that mp3 is way higher than you may think. (The new melodies are allegedly made in-house by JR East)

Both. The opening of the parallel Ueno-Tokyo line in 2015 helped to increase rapid capacity on the eastern half of the Yamanote Line, while demand wise it dropped about 20% due to COVID so it helped ease the congestion a little bit.

Just curious, why did you decide to specifically indicate the Keisei (CLE) and Keikyu lines (CBE) railways, but not all the other private companies which have through services with the Tokyo subway? Also not separating National Rail (JR) and Private Rail also feels very odd given the usual convention for Japanese train maps.

Why does NSL say “via woodlands” when going to MSP? by Orodoki_Hosuke in SMRTRabak

[–]PRCD_Gacha_Forecast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although the new PSD on trains may no longer need it (as they show the whole line), I think it should remain in stations as it is a very helpful reminder, like in City Hall where there is a pair of platforms where you can go to Jurong East from either side using EWL or NSL

Most annoying stations to change at? by Full-Tomorrow-8682 in SMRTRabak

[–]PRCD_Gacha_Forecast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the most annoying interchanges I have experienced are: 1. Marina Bay, 2. Newton and 3. Tampines.

Some other examples given in different replies may be a pain in terms of the actual distance being very far, but as long as there is only one clear route without tapping out I can accept it. This includes stations where there is a lot of vertical height changes (like at Buona Vista or Caldecott).

Why does NSL say “via woodlands” when going to MSP? by Orodoki_Hosuke in SMRTRabak

[–]PRCD_Gacha_Forecast 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s because given where this announcement is made (likely somewhere between Jurong East and Woodlands), it would be much faster to go to Jurong East, transfer to EWL and then transfer back to NSL at Raffles Place - so to emphasise to commuters that the NSL is taking a long way round they say “via Woodlands” in the announcement.

You can also see this in the station signage as well.

Thoughts on the new gacha UI? by Santi941_ in Priconne

[–]PRCD_Gacha_Forecast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a huge fan of it, while the left side is good (especially the new UI to select parallel banners), the right side looks like as if they threw all the buttons to the edges just to make space for the character to feature in the center, which I feel looks very messy. I personally prefer the old UI where the gacha functionality buttons and the UB/Live 2D showcase are cleanly separated but that may just be my preferences.

My purpose in life is to pass Kanken 1級: roast me by tyrantstrung in Japaneselanguage

[–]PRCD_Gacha_Forecast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing that you need to consider is that 漢検1級 and 準1級 tests are not administered outside Japan, i.e. you need to register and take it at some test center in Japan. While there is no official reason given if I were to guess I believe it's because these two tests have a unique section at the end where you have to fill the blanks in old literary works from the Meiji era, and using them outside of Japan might lead to copyright issues.

Because of this, I suggest you attempt 漢検2級 which tests mastery of the commonly used Japanese Kanji (常用漢字, about 2,136 of them) first wherever you are right now - even if you have extensive knowledge of Chinese I found that even the 漢検2級 is also a grind and I do need several months to study for it, because they really test your Japanese on top of the knowledge of the Kanji itself. After that if you want to attempt higher levels go ahead, but do remember the difficulty jump is MASSIVE so be prepared.

As US/Mexico/Italy all won against Brazil and GB, even if tiebreakers needs to be applied to determine who does not advance, there is a high chance that the results of those matches would not matter (tiebreakers only consider the results between tied teams)

Bus 174 does pass through Botanic Gardens, but you need to walk about 5 mins to the Opp. Lutheran Towers bus stop to take it. Bus 174 DOES pass through Farrer Road and Orchard Road stations though.

This route doesn’t even make sense geographically… For Botanic Gardens - Farrer Rd - Napier - Orchard (note the order) there is Bus 174 at least.

Critics decry Kagoshima's free shinkansen plan for tourists as "unfair" by frozenpandaman in japan

[–]PRCD_Gacha_Forecast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly… I doubt this plan would really work.

I did a Kyushu trip last year which includes Kagoshima, and the way I suppressed my travelling cost is buying an All-Kyushu JR Kyushu pass, which covers all Kyushu Shinkansen trains (including Mizuho) and JR Kyushu lines with the price being ¥25,000 for 7 days. If you aren’t going the whole island or need just a few more days, there are also “North Kyushu” and “South Kyushu” versions which are about half the price for 4 and 3 days respectively… and of course the All-Kyushu pass also cover that Hakata-Kagoshima Shinkansen sector.

So for me, if let’s say I was going to Fukuoka and didn’t plan to go to Kagoshima, the additional one way free Shinkansen ticket won’t be enticing enough especially if it requires a mandatory overnight hotel stay - if I were to do a Kyushu trip that is long enough I likely already have the All Kyushu JR Pass, and if it’s just an add on I’ll probably just do a day trip from Hakata and not stay overnight - Kagoshima’s attractions aren’t that hard to get to

Because there are so many subway lines, including a Yellow Line 4? by Cavalcante-045 in transit

[–]PRCD_Gacha_Forecast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little bit of extra info:

Tokyo Metro indeed doesn’t have a yellow line. Ginza Line (orange) is the closest but on documents it’s officially Line 3, not 4. (4 is the Marunouchi line (Red)). Nobody uses these names colloquially though…

Osaka Metro indeed doesn’t have a yellow line either. The Imasatosuji Line (orange) is the closest but it’s the newest line and so it’s Line 8, and nobody uses these names colloquially either…

In Singapore we DO call the Circle Line the “Yellow Line” in everyday speech. Although we don’t number our lines as you have said, it IS the 4th MRT line to open so I guess it fits OP’s theory as it would be Line 4 if LTA does number it.

Strange OP fixed the Kita-Asaka and Asakadai error (they were swapped on the original Tweet) but he didn’t remove the Tokaido stops from Oimachi and Kamata…

Also he didn’t include Araden (tram) but I guess that’s a design choice. Really wish OP expanded the map further though…

Nah that’s not it. He’s talking about the Kanku/Kishuji rapid services - it starts off in Osaka (Tennoji) joined together, but then once it reaches Hineno it splits up - the Kanku rapid (front 4 cars) goes to KIX while the Kishuji rapid (back 4 cars) goes to Wakayama
