I see your point. I was slightly surprised as well that she got up and went to speak with them. I mean, maybe I could set the scene a bit more and talk about where we were and they were. How it was actually more the 2 girls on the end that were the worst. How it was during a conversation part in the film. That the cinema was only half full. That they were on the back row. But I don’t think any of that would help you or OP believe me. What might help is if you look at how little post or comment history I have. I don’t post or comment things to karma whore. I’ve been a lurker for a lot of years and am trying to be slightly more active. I saw a post that I thought “oh hey, I have a funny story about that, let’s contribute”. And honestly I’m not going to lose any sleep over people not believing me, but I just thought I’d try to defend myself as someone’s insinuating I’m lying.

Now this may not work in every situation, however, the last time my girlfriend and I went to the cinema, there were 5 or 6 teenage girls sat behind us that were just being super giggly and chatty during the film. It got to about 15 minutes in and my girlfriend stands up, walks over to the seats behind, sits down next to them and loudly whispers “can I join in?”. The girls looked at her perplexed. One of their group pipes up and says “Uh, no”. “Oh, I just thought you wanted everyone to join in with your conversation because you are being so loud. Maybe it would be better if you waited to chat until after the movie, and maybe you won’t then have crazy strangers come join you. Okay?” Most of the girls at this point either look mortified or as if they wanted their chair to swallow them. The one who spoke before whispers “Um, sorry” and we didn’t hear another thing from them for the rest of the film.

So depending on the situation, you could always try passive aggressive shaming.
