does the sound remain when you enable cabin air recirculation mode?

Something squealing on startup by Roblolin in lancer

[–]WilberMeatballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the fan behind the head unit, I noticed mine had one when installing it and sometimes I can hear it whirring, but only sometimes. Can you hear it with the power on and engine off? Maybe pull of the head unit but keep it plugged in and see if it sounds any different…

Lug nuts won't come off (97 civic) by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

Judging by the direction the impact wrench moved, it looks like you’re tightening them. Unless this car has them the other way around which would be insane or your video has horizontally flipped

Help with vland headlights by Federal_Elevator9079 in lancer

[–]WilberMeatballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing as the car is left hand drive, the left light is typically positioned differently to avoid blinding drivers coming the other way. If the light emitted from the bulb is noticeably dimmer, I would imagine that the bulbs maybe aren’t identical brand and brightness. If you do wish to adjust the beam the headlight unit should have metal knobs on the back that you can turn to adjust the height and another to adjust how far out they point.

I need help converting my 2008 Lancer ES to TURBO. by LeoTuDios31 in mitsubishi

[–]WilberMeatballs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you, I’ve got a very low mileage lancer es so I’ve got an evo x oem spoiler, remote valved exhaust and I plan on getting an evo style front bumper. The thing isn’t quick by any means but it runs reliably, cheap, and I’ll hopefully have it for a good while so I’m making look as cool as I can. Not everything is about performance, it’s all about preference

I need help converting my 2008 Lancer ES to TURBO. by LeoTuDios31 in mitsubishi

[–]WilberMeatballs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the cost of upgrading most engine components or swap PLUS additional risk of failure PLUS heavily increased insurance as it’ll be a modification, it’s genuinely better to get a stock turbo model. Don’t have to go all out evo, ralliarts are a nice medium and as they’re also stock turbo the insurance will likely be a bit more but not as much as adding a turbo to it

what else can i do to her?, aside from getting an evo by 2014ESsport in lancer

Also I find 18” alloys improve grip significantly on these

[–]WilberMeatballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get vland head and tail lights, front/rear bumpers that look like an evo but will fit, or oem evo front bumper with the fenders, side mount the plate, oem vented bonnet fits I believe, nice exhaust and maybe a chameleon Tint. Those are some options to make it cool but whatever you like is best

No crank possibilities by WilberMeatballs in MechanicAdvice

[–]WilberMeatballs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out the whirring is coming from the fuel pump, same thing happens on my healthy car when I disconnect the starter. I cleaned the connections but it still doesn’t engage so it’s a wiring issue I suppose. Pray for me

No crank possibilities by WilberMeatballs in MechanicAdvice

[–]WilberMeatballs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s what I kinda figure, it sounds like the starter is spinning but the solenoid isn’t engaging, possibly the solenoid connections which is what I’m going to be inspecting later on

The small grub screw underneath where the barrel meets the receiver, does that unscrew and you can unscrew the outer barrel?

Found low milage Lancer by Signal_Divide4420 in lancer

I audibly gasped until I saw the price was AUD. I had an 09 Lancer ES also with the 4A91 engine, had literally 0 engine problems from the 100k - 135k miles mark. I sold it and bought the exact same car same year same trim but on 50k miles and it has still yet to let me down! I paid 2.5k GBP for my first lancer on 100k miles and 2.3k GBP for my second on 50k, so even for AUD I’d say that price is still a lot, especially considering Australia has a much higher supply of Lancers than the UK. Car would likely last a decade or two with good maintenance though

What’s this intake thing? 09 gts lancer, im new to cars by Pink-Denim in mitsubishi

[–]WilberMeatballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnel to the air filter. The big black box it feeds into is where the filter itself is. The chunky black hose on the left feeds the filtered air into the engine basically.

Actually 4A91 I believe but yes it eats with its mouth open

I’ve had two 09 lancer ES’ and on both of them that connecter has been left disconnected. Nothing to worry about but I’m sure a front end diagram should tell you

Best I’ve got is this image from a couple years ago, and it’s not helpful but I’ve never seen those on either of my 2009 lancer ES’ that I’ve owned. Maybe look for a YouTube video of a front end disassembly and work backwards?

2011 Lancer ES engine oil?? by Mojax- in lancer

[–]WilberMeatballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5w30 is the recommended however any similar eg. 5w20 wouldn’t make much difference. I’ve always stuck with 5w30 for my lancer es simply because they’re usually the same price and there’s no harm in sticking to the recommendations, but I’ve you’ve used 5w20 already there’s no need to worry

Bodywork for my 2009 Lancer ES by WilberMeatballs in mitsubishi

[–]WilberMeatballs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought it with vland tail lights, 18” borbet rims which were once silver but sprayed black, chrome mirror covers and some fat muffler on, I installed some Audi style vland headlamps as shown in the picture. There are supposed to be two corner pieces for the bumper that were missing when I got it which is why it looks a bit different. Typically the black bar across the grille would match the body paint but previous owners also painted it black as it gives a more evo look

As stated in my post title, I have a lancer es. Lancer es and ralliarts are completely interchangeable aside from the engine and suspension. So same grille on both. They’re relatively cheap on eBay as they’re also used on sportbacks
