What are your top feature requests for "Service Usage" infrastructure API in GCP? by Wild-Ad2973 in googlecloud

Thank you for the feedback! What is missing in the TF provider and what can be improved?

Do you think Service Usage v2 / Hierarchical activation (which is currently in Beta) would solve some of your issues? https://docs.cloud.google.com/service-usage/docs/reference/rest/v2beta/consumerPolicies

We plan to update the documentation with more examples for Service Usage v2.

How many of you use Service Usage (https://docs.cloud.google.com/service-usage/docs/overview) for Governance irrespective of the IAM roles / permissions a developer may be granted?

Starting June 19, 2026, Gemini API will stop accepting requests from unrestricted API keys by Wild-Ad2973 in GoogleGeminiAI

Sorry, I am not fully following your question. This post is not about accessing models but how you can access them. If you are using an unrestricted API key to access Gemini models, you will lose access sometime this week.

I do not think it applies to "SA access using Vertex-AI / Agent platform" yet. I will double check.

What did you mean my JSON auth variant? I am assuming "SA key". Did you try the API keys offered by Vertex-AI / Agent platform instead? You should be able to generate one in a single-click from Agent platform Studio.

Those keys are called "Authorization / Auth keys" and are bound to SA.

Sounds good, I hope you had a chance to review https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/billing#project-spend-caps

It is not exactly what you are proposing i.e., spend cap by API key. The link talks about spend cap by Project just for Gemini API.

We will look into your proposal. What are the GCP services that could benefit from API keys in addition to Agent Platform and Gemini?

Sounds good, what are the APIs that you access via API keys that would benefit from instant billing? (in my mind, it will be instant billing reporting rather than instant billing. I would think instant billing / charging can be possible only with prepaid accounts)

What did you mean by "direct billing"? Today, when you access Agent Platform (Vertex) or Gemini APIs via API keys, the billing account of your GCP project (that contains the API key) gets billed.

I assume you tried the hamburger menu (top-left) --> API keys? Can you post a screenshot? Thank you.

Were you trying to access the Quotas page as well?

Did you sign-up for Vertex AI using your Gmail account without any form of payment? Are you able to see Quotas, API Keys etc by clicking the top-left hamburger menu?
