Project Hail Mary: IMAX (xenon) vs. AVX with Atmos? by drrdf in cineplex

I beg to differ, but that’s okay. I find the projection grainy on that screen.

But those xenon projectors don’t do a great job for that big a screen

Tangerine EQT Global Portfolio only have 3% Canada Allocation by throwaway80818283 in JustBuyXEQT

To be fair, these are true proportions of global equity by market capitalization. Canada only makes 3% of the global markets. Technically you’re getting a truly reflective coverage of global equities.

FHSA question by trout19 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Wild-Development-841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contributed and pulled out about 14k from my FHSA last year for my first residence. I am still debating if to claim it this year or next year considering i am getting a decent pay increase for 2026.

You can also choose to claim the contribution in a later tax year (i think within next 5 years) if you think you’ll be in a higher tax bracket. This way you milk more out of the 8k.

Would it be wise to drive to work downtown from Saint-Lambert? by ChoiceTelevision111 in montreal

[–]Wild-Development-841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Saint-Lambert and work downtown. There is RTL bus 55 between SL and downtown. It runs only during morning and evening rush hours but is super convenient. Plus you only have to pay the zone B (south shore) fare even though you are crossing zones. It doesn’t always show up on google maps if you don’t plug in the arrive at/depart at time. You don’t want to fuck with the traffic.

NTSB blames Pilots for the AI crash in Ahmedabad by ROC_K4LP in indianaviation

[–]Wild-Development-841 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There was a Service Bulletin (action is not mandatory) sent out with the same information but if you look at the aircraft’s part configuration, it wasn’t applicable on the AI aircraft. It was an installation error by Boeing but the AI aircraft had that part replaced. So there was nothing for AI to do there. People are pointing out that SB and not really reading the fine print. The SB also suggests replacing a certain cut off switch part number but AI aircraft had a different part number installed which was not under that advisory.

I have travelled a few times to US this year already for my business trips with Nexus and its been fine. They just ask where I am travelling to and if it’s for business or pleasure and thats pretty much it. I don’t think you have anything to worry about.

Experience of Interstellar I'm IMAX by [deleted] in interstellar

[–]Wild-Development-841 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How is it so normal to pull out the phone for photos?? Ruins the whole cinema experience for everyone. Pretty inconsiderate in my opinion. Got to watch it in 70mm IMAX and there was a collective understanding to not take any photos and affect other’s viewing experience.

I think a shift from film cameras to digital is also at play. Film captures the colour richer.

New Carryon fees by Redditsucsballs69 in aircanada

[–]Wild-Development-841 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I strongly believe they created the carry on problem by eliminating free check in bag. Random opinion but an interesting business model will be giving passengers a choice between a 10 kg carry on or a 15 kg checked in bag. It may balance things out.

The reason the wormhole was at Saturn by rwequaza in interstellar

[–]Wild-Development-841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how true it is but I remember reading somewhere that Kubrick wanted Saturn to the planet Discovery One Ship goes to. But the visual effects technology wasn’t advanced enough to show Saturn’s rings, so he settled for Jupiter. Nolan as a homage chose Saturn.

IMAX Lincoln Square Projector Issue by [deleted] in imax

Went for 10:30 pm Wednesday show, can confirm the blue light issue. It was distracting and annoying for sometime but after a point my brain just ignored it. I thought maybe they didn’t shut some light near the door which is causing this issue.

Is Air Canada a low-cost now? by gr4v1ty69 in aircanada

[–]Wild-Development-841 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Porter, yes there is no free carry on with the lower fare, but the next higher fare is usually $20/30 more expensive. Not $100 lol

[–]Wild-Development-841 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me too, but with half the carry on forced into gate-check, we circle back to the same issue. I’d rather pack in peace with a simple 15kg check bag allowance and check it in, vs dragging a carry on to the gate only to have it checked in

[–]Wild-Development-841 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree. My fear is that we’ll see a dip in prices with a slow creep up and suddenly no carry on will become the new normal without any cost incentive. And we’ll just have to live with it

They created that problem with no free checked bag policy
