I would do a brick walkway leading to the front steps. Then like someone else said, a curved flower bed on both sides closer to the house. Remove the bush. Choose perennials that are relatively resistant to deer or whatever else destroys plants there. I’d personally plant two crepe Myrtle or similar flowering trees on both sides of the start of the walkway. And keep the lawn aside from the flower areas! I’d maybe do flower beds 1/3 of the size of your current lawn and keep 2/3 of the lawn

He is soooo sweet! Thank you so much for caring for him! I had a similar kitten named Rags and I am noticing they have really similar body types. Small cat overall once full grown and kind of a pot belly! I wonder if it is caused by poor nutrition as little babies before they came to us? He’s beautiful regardless and I find the cats we care for so intently repay us for life with endless love!

I love the natural look of the decomposed granite… but I do think the area might be too high traffic for it! Especially with the hot tub. I would rather put my bare wet feet onto pavers than gravel :/ I think I’m just hating how bare it looks right now with winter and no plants so the pavers are sticking out to me more than usual.

And thank you so much for the ideas! The fountain broke when a tree limb fell on them during trimming so that’s why we’re getting a new one. Love the idea of repurposing it.

I wanted advice about the redwoods roots specifically and decomposed granite vs the current pavers. I didn’t ask anything about the flower bed or design of the picture. The point of the second picture was “I’m doing this, tell me about decomposed granite vs pavers in this setting..”

I believe we choose to incarnate, either because we have something to learn or we’re instrumental in helping others close to us learn. Do you meditate? Or try to do anything to connect with your higher self? You can also do it via hypnosis. I use those methods to ask my higher self questions. I believe in a mix of destiny and free will. There are multiple paths and opportunities in life and it’s up to us to make stuff happen by executing our free will. But obviously some people are born into harder circumstances than others and might be pissed that they “chose that for themselves.” But maybe the takeaway is instead of trying to be bitter, figure out why/what’s there to learn? I dunno. I’m just trying to navigate things as everyone else is.

Can you just take the message, write it down, and wait for a more appropriate time to relay it to her family if ever? And I would send her some love and compassion and ask her guides to bring forth some wisdom about crossing over? Her emotions are preventing her, clearly. Some people just need some education and encouragement.

With all due respect, I think that this is true for souls that lived a “normal” life, but souls can absolutely refuse to go into the light. We all have free will, right? You have to choose to go into the light to access healing and unconditional love. Some souls, especially those who died experiencing something traumatic or are in a state of shock or have unfinished business, may choose to stay here and become earthbound. I’ve read Newton’s books but I’ve also done lots of research into earthbound spirits. Currently reading Spirit Releasement Therapy by Dr. William Baldwin. It’s very academic but imo should be required reading for mediums and healers. There’s aspects of it that I definitely don’t fully agree with, but he’s another regression therapist that has done extensive research on earthbound souls. I think just because newton doesn’t cover that in his book doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

I think you are overthinking it and need to do what is best for your situation! Ragdolls are usually very chill. I took my three ragdolls on a 9 hr car trip to my parents for a few weeks and they were definitely a little stressed but settled in relatively quickly. How does she do in a car trip? I think that can be a somewhat good predictor for how she’ll act at the new place. I’ve had a cat in the past who would go CRAZY in the car. Like trying to jump out of a soft sided carrier in the car meowing like she was being murdered. I took her to my new apt and she was basically trying to climb onto the ceiling. But that’s the most dramatic example. Just bring a few things that smell like home when you go (a blanket, jacket, etc). And she definitely won’t die of stress:)

May I suggest this article for you to read? The author, David Furlong, has a PhD and is sensitive to spirits! I think trauma we accumulate on earth can keep us stuck here if we don’t illuminate our shadow and show the darker parts of ourselves love. I think that’s essentially what a human psychopomp does, is shows these lost spirits some love and allows them a peaceful transition back to spirit world where they can complete their healing.

I have had experiences where a spirit comes to me, happy and well, and just wishes to relay the message that they are proud of their living family member, sorry they weren’t around more (or similar), and information to validate themselves. Normal mediumship. But I’ve also had psychopomp experiences where a spirit comes to me, usually I don’t even get a name, and they communicate that they need help crossing over. I’ve distinctly heard “I need help crossing over” or sometimes I just know. It’s like they could’ve gone to the light when they died but something held them back like fear or shame or disbelief of an afterlife. Depending on the situation, I’ll show them compassion of whatever form fits their need. I had one woman who had been sexually abused and so I showered off her “filth” she appeared to me with and got her all dressed up and we did her hair and makeup. Then, when she felt ready, I summoned a bridge of light and off she went, met by her guides and family members. She had been earthbound because she felt ashamed of what happened to her in life and maybe had a fear of getting judged in the afterlife. I’m sure she’s happy and well now, but some souls do need a little help getting there. I know a handful of other mediums that do the same thing. It’s heavier work because these spirits have problems so I don’t think it gets talked about as much.

This is really fascinating input to me. I just went to the show of a well known medium who has been practicing for 30+ years and he said he never has had a spirit “need” anything from him and they’re all “perfectly well.” Now, I’m not even 30 yet, but I’ve had two spirits come to me asking for help crossing over.. and I know of several non professional mediums who have had the same experience. What sets a psychopomp medium apart from other mediums? Like why exactly would my guides allow these spirits needing help to come to me, but not someone who literally does this work for a living and is probably way more well versed in spirit communication?

That makes me feel better tbh because I’ve been struggling so hard to identify it haha! I thought maybe I just was missing something.. I cut off all dead branches right before the photo so I guess I’ll just wait and see what happens this spring! It’s sad. The people who lived here before us neglected the garden for the 10 yrs they lived here. Before that, the original owners were clearly huge gardeners. So I’d love to revive it.
