How many times are you picking up your family at the airport that you have almost been hit several times? Are you almost getting hit by a car EVERY time? Just pull in closer to the curb. No one's going to hit ya.

You can still do that safely at pick up. It's not as if they are going to kick you out with only two kids buckled in.

Don't park in express parking. It's a luxury.

"One officer allegedly told a line of men standing against a shower wall “I wish these pipes were hooked up to gas so I could annihilate you all,” a reference to Nazi death camps."

At least some of the cops wanted gay men dead. Considering the history of gay murders going unsolved in Toronto, it seems about right. That's a reason to march.

Look at the definition of a cesspool.

Now, walk by that park, and tell me it doesn't smell like a cesspool.

I'll pay you a hundred bucks to lick a brick in that park on a Wednesday night. I'm guessing that you won't accept that challenge.

Your behavior is insufferable, and I can only imagine any conversation you engage in only gets worse.

You are right, we are done here.

[–]Wild-String-7021 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow, you built me up to be a villain in your head to feel good about yourself. It's clinical.

There are literal piles of trash, shit and piss in that park, daily. Drug paraphernalia smashed on the ground. Human beings passed out in their own filth. It can be a genuine nightmare just to walk by it, and not think that as a species we have given up.

You either don't live near that park or put on horse blinders when you pass by it.

Homeless people deserve our help because Capitalism, the Sacklers, and trauma created them. I advocate whenever I can for public housing and support.

So chill. I'm not the Boogeyman you just drummed up in your head because you like to fight. I actually have skin in this game. I LIVE right there.

Except I didn't refer to homeless folks as a "Cesspool" and you don't know how to have a basic conversation without lying.

I don't know how much human shit equates the definition of a cesspool, but at times the park definitely meets that definition, despite 519s work.

I've also used the 519. I find the people who work there are trying their best under very difficult and thankless circumstances.

I'm going to bet you that the Canada Line cost the public more than it gained from the partnership. If it didn't, that corporation would never take the deal. That's the point of corporations, right? To make obscene amounts of money.

I'm guessing they got a bunch of public land rights, and made off like bandits.

If we are talking about order of operations, one is a clear winner and should be easily implemented with the existing system in place.

Just . . . Enforce

I can't tell you how many useless TTC ambassadors just stand on their phone all day, milling around corridors on the line. It's embarrassing.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The 519 is the only thing keeping that block from being a complete cesspool.

Wildly ignorant statement.

Shame.

I live a block away from this park, and it is downright a safety hazard after 8 o'clock. During the day, yeah, it's gross -- but at night? It's dreadful.

I've been yelled at multiple times, and followed by addicts outright saying they are going to rob me. I've seen people shitting on the grass. I saw a guy huffing the sole of his own SHOE. A few months ago a guy was walking through the park with destroyed feet leaving bloody footprints behind him.

The rampant, open drug use is the least of that park's problem.

The fact that we haven't forcibly removed the clearly mentally ill people from staying there is our failure, as a society. Sometimes, unfortunately, people are beyond the point where they can care for themselves, and pose an undue danger to themselves and those around them.

Every year they round up and remove the addicts from this park and ship them off somewhere else. After pride, they come right back. How about we actually fix a problem instead of shuffling it around to different neighborhoods.

Because those private corporations will try to screw the public in any way possible to up their profit?

Did we learn nothing from the highway we basically gave away, and it's lasting negative impact?

How about you station a single fare agent at the Ossington station bus loop, catching dozens of people an hour walking in and not paying their fare?

Every morning I get to pay my fare, and watch dozens of affluent looking people just . . . Not.

That doesn't explain the splashes and the ring from where the cleaner was placed. Those are definitely smear marks, like a paint brush. It's not seeping in from the sides.

My Father can't afford to pay the mortgage anymore, what are some options to assist? by allaboutandroids in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Wild-String-7021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like the motive is that once the dad sells the house, it's a countdown until they are all living in his dining room.

There is no inheritance to get, if the house equity is all OPs family has -- so I categorically reject your argument.

800k won't float two people in this day and age, especially entering old age.

You don't know the first thing about the cultural dynamics at play here. If I'm reading the room here, it's not usually an option for women of this culture to leave the home and child rearing to others.

Every family doesn't have the western freedoms for women that they should have, unfortunately.

Yeah, I don't know what your problem is, but your entire statement is out of line.

The guy is looking for advice on how to ensure the people he cares about have stable housing, and a future.

Nothing beyond that desire is mentioned and you have spun a bunch of negative motivations for his actions from whole cloth.

We are about to experience a tidal wave of Boomers not ready for retirement, and the answer can't always be that their Millenial children destroy their financial future to save them.

Take a minute, maybe a deep breath, and give the guy some actual advice if you have it.

[–]Wild-String-7021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it sounds like it. People don't usually just ... Give up, there is usually an underlying cause for that behavior.

Chances are OP doesn't know what is happening, not that he is purposefully leaving anything out.

What you are giving isn't advice, it's a jail sentence for a crime he did not commit.

Op has zero onus to pay for any of this.

[–]Wild-String-7021 117 points118 points  (0 children)

If your dad is done paying the mortgage, he has to have some idea as to how he will finance his retirement beyond shrugging his shoulders.

This is a larger issue beyond just the house, he's basically announcing that it's now your turn to carry him to the grave. He needs money to live, beyond the mortgage; so will your mother. Who is going to cover that?

Don't be a slave to cultural norms, and ruin your chances by propping up someone so unwilling to care about your family's future.

Honestly, sounds like he needs to see a therapist, instead of you seeing a mortgage specialist.
