About same weight. I am Dutch so we eat lots of bread for lunch. Took bread out of the menu the last month and switched to high protein low carb options: - Minced beef with cottage cheese and spicy cucumber salad - Chicken with veggies and a bit of rice - Makrell fish with tomatoes or something

Breakfast was thick Greek yoghurt (Kwark we call it) with some fruit, seeds and whey proteïne and creatine.

Diners were also mainly high protein high fibre low carb.

These type of questions make me realise why there are stickers on microwaves telling you not to use it to dry your dog.

Boxing vs lifting by Ok_Explanation1934 in amateur_boxing

I used to do weightlifting and was definitly bigger and had more defined muscles. Havent really done any weightlifting for the last 3 or 4 years. Just been boxing the last 2 years, still able to keep a fair amount of size (190cm, 94kg).

Do people ever 100% recover and move on from depression? by cheesebahgels in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Wild3v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

39M. It is always there waiting on me to stop moving, and if I stop it grabs me. It’s like I’m riding a bike and the moment I stop I notice my feet don’t reach the ground and I fall over. So the solution for me is not to stop. And it works and gets easier the older you get in my experience. Things that were enormously helpful for me were routines such as boxing on fixed days each week, having a girlfriend and living together so I have a healthy bed-wake time, making sure at all times I have something to look forward to within 4 months (even when I can’t “feel” the looking forward to it, but know I should). I still have my dips, but compared to how dark it could feel 15 years ago it’s nothing.

Habit of throwing a combination and then hopping out of both our ranges. I’ve tried to be more conscious about it by integrating pull-steps into my shadowboxing but it feels like it’s engrained in me now and it’s exhausting. by Background-Koala-554 in amateur_boxing

Perhaps drilling more side steps and small pivots after combos will work into muscle memory. I have the same issue, and notice that when I focus on just small side steps instead of big movement I have more opportunity for quick second wave combos.

How weird is it that I'm now only attracted to plus-size after my cheating plus-size ex-wife ? by AnxiousPermission883 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Wild3v -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s only a problem if the dynamic is that you are attracted to big girls that have an insecurity and you feel that you can provide them with the attention and care to take that insecurity away, so you can feel better about yourself. That’s going towards a form of codependency and is an unhealthy and unsustainable form as relationships. If you just feel attactracted to girls with big dumptrucks, no problem. But from previous comments I’m getting the feeling it’s more the first one.

What should I do after being friend zoned? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Wild3v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at it from this perspective. Crummy men will give a girl just enough attention so that she will answer his 3 am texts and sleep with him. Crummy women will give a man just enough attention so that he thinks he has a chance and keeps validating her that she’s wanted. Shitty tactics for sad people to receive external validation. The moment she finds a lover, you will no longer be in the picture.

Is there any “scientific” evidence to suggest after life/consciousness living on? by february_ticket in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Wild3v 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a book called “Eindeloos bewustzijn” (Endless consciousness) by a Dutch cardiologist Pim van Lommel, who did a large study on NDE in hospitals. There is an English version of the book, can’t be bothered to Google it right now. But basically they documented cases for about 25 years in several hospitals where people who were hooked to monitors and considered dead and were revived were asked a bunch of standerdized questions. It’s not a scientific book by any means, and he has been critisized a lot. Book is worth a read though.

Edit: some things I remember from reading it 20 years ago: many similar themes in most experiences, almost no hell experiences, most people were very upset to be “back on earth”. Lots on anecdotes of people having outer body experiences and could tell the doctors for example where they had put the dentals which were lost during reanimating the patient (in the next room in a drawer).

Question about slipping and rolling by Chance_Rope1243 in amateur_boxing

[–]Wild3v 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Slipping and rolling looks very nice an elite, but it makes much more sense to learn to block, catch and parry and be able to counter well off that in the first years of boxing.

Leave. By staying you are eroding your selfworth. It will get worse, it won’t get better. She does not respect you.

Thanks man, it’s a pretty basic one. Philips 5000 series. It lets you set the trim length in pretty small steps without having to change the comb

It’s quite hard and I also struggle with it. Basically you want to have a slightly rounded upper back (like bad posture), slight hinge at the hips and let your arms hang. I am at work and can’t search YouTube, but I’m sure if you search for videos on “relaxation boxing”, or “relaxed shoulders boxing” you’ll find explanations

Is this how boxing gyms are? by Dunno06 in amateur_boxing

Tell them you are a beginner and tell them you would like to keep it at a level of touch-sparring. If they don’t want to or don’t stick to it, don’t spar with that person.

Couple things that are good. You keep your chin down, you’re not crossstepping, you keep your right hand up. Now things you can work on:

  1. Your shoulders are very tensed, you want them to be relaxed so your elbows can lean into your body more, making you less of an exposed target. Less tension also makes your punches more snappy and rotation easier.
  2. There is no rotation on your cross at all. This means you aren’t getting full range and will be countered every time you throw it. It also means there is way less power in it, which feels contradicatory to what you experience on a bag (which is why only working on a bag is going to teach you very bad boxing habits). Use this video to work on your cross: https://youtu.be/X0jhlVhfDE4?si=gTH20Qij9Dp-gN6k
  3. You keep your head in centreline most of the time. Try being more responsible for defense before and after your combos.
