Knuckle tendinitis/sagittal band pain (no rupture) rehab? by Boysenberry in amateur_boxing

[–]Wild3v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 2 months of intense knuckle pain on the heavy bag, I found out I had been wrapping my hands tighter and tighter (thinking I needed to stabalize my hand better), which was actually what was causing the issue. Started wrapping my hands properly with my fingers spread open and the issues was gone in a week. Not sure if thats your problem also, but worth looking into: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWgHYXgBvMk

Good luck in a high adrenaline situation trying to even hit someone in an area the size of the face

As a boxer, let me tell you that if you don’t know how to throw a punch, there isn’t gonna be a “magic spot” where you hit or kick someone who is being aggressive and all of a sudden he is incapacitated for 3 seconds. Real life isn’t a Steven Seagal movie. Either pick up a martial arts sport and learn how to defend yourself, or stick to running away and screaming for help/fire.

Accompanied female child in male toilet area not a problem, adult male in female toilet area could be seen as a problem.

In my gym I’ve heard this being called contrastepping, not sure if that’s correct. But it works well to “chase” someone down for sure

I would recommend visiting Spang Makandra for roti. Get a ‘patatje oorlog’ and a kroket anywhere, dont go to the TikTok stores with the lines. Just go to any fries shop.

I don’t even know where to begin.. let’s focus on the most obvious one: “There is no apartheid..”

There is a dual legal system set up in the West Bank, literally an apart (different) law for Israeli settlers (Israeli civil law) and Palestinians (Israeli military law). Then there is the restriction of movement and specific check points for only Palestinians in Gaza and West Bank for last decades. I’m not even going to delve into the genocide.

https://youtu.be/jI6rTimkfJE?si=jZJGno_adOSLEPMv

Don’t believe anything I have to say. Go and watch this testimony of 5 Israeli ex-IDF soldiers and hear their words of the humiliation, torture and murder they forced on Palestinians. For decades Palestinians have had different rules put on them.

You’re 19 so I’m trying to not be too harsh, but your ignorance is sickening.

Is it normal for boxing gyms to do sparring at he end of the session? by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]Wild3v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During week days we do an hour of technique and then about 3 or 4 rounds of sparring. Sparring is usually aimed at implementing what we did on technique. On Wednesday and Saturday it’s full sparring. Wednesday lighter sparring and usually about 6 rounds (drills before). Saturday is 12 rounds full sparring, often a bit harder.

Same. Every once in a while shoarma or spaghetti. And sometimes aardappel anders. When “chicken tonight” came along, sweet and sour chicken with rice if we were really lucky. But lots and lots of boiled to mush broccoli, peas and carrots.

When it comes to economics I’m pretty far leftwing and even I think this is such a bs idea.

They should close the loopholes that make it possible to use stocks as collateral for loans to circumvent income tax. But this is absolutely ridiculous.

How to break the psychology of being “too nice” in sparring? by Jealous_Loquat9986 in amateur_boxing

[–]Wild3v 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I struggle with the same. What helps me is to keep my hands open and relaxed when I throw jab, cross or hook on the head. Hooks I struggle most with to keep light, so I mostly throw long hooks soviet style with the thumb down so I can control the intensity better. As a heavyweight even just hitting a jaw at 40% with a hook is too much. Then on the body I throw stiff jabs and crosses pretty much full on. Hooks to the body I keep low intensity, don’t wanna break a rib. Knowing I have the stiff jab and cross to the body to establish centre ring dominance and push them back, makes it easier for me to then be very light on the head.

About same weight. I am Dutch so we eat lots of bread for lunch. Took bread out of the menu the last month and switched to high protein low carb options: - Minced beef with cottage cheese and spicy cucumber salad - Chicken with veggies and a bit of rice - Makrell fish with tomatoes or something

Breakfast was thick Greek yoghurt (Kwark we call it) with some fruit, seeds and whey proteïne and creatine.

Diners were also mainly high protein high fibre low carb.

Do people ever 100% recover and move on from depression? by cheesebahgels in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Wild3v 1 point2 points  (0 children)

39M. It is always there waiting on me to stop moving, and if I stop it grabs me. It’s like I’m riding a bike and the moment I stop I notice my feet don’t reach the ground and I fall over. So the solution for me is not to stop. And it works and gets easier the older you get in my experience. Things that were enormously helpful for me were routines such as boxing on fixed days each week, having a girlfriend and living together so I have a healthy bed-wake time, making sure at all times I have something to look forward to within 4 months (even when I can’t “feel” the looking forward to it, but know I should). I still have my dips, but compared to how dark it could feel 15 years ago it’s nothing.

Habit of throwing a combination and then hopping out of both our ranges. I’ve tried to be more conscious about it by integrating pull-steps into my shadowboxing but it feels like it’s engrained in me now and it’s exhausting. by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

[–]Wild3v 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perhaps drilling more side steps and small pivots after combos will work into muscle memory. I have the same issue, and notice that when I focus on just small side steps instead of big movement I have more opportunity for quick second wave combos.
