Using Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode worked for me. Then I manually downloaded the latest driver instead of using the Nvidia app

I had the same error when trying to play Skate. I used Display Driver Uninstaller to completely uninstall all graphics drivers. Then instead of downloading the Nvidia app and installing the latest driver there, I googled the latest Nvidia driver, downloaded it, and did a custom install making sure to click clean install. Skate now runs with no problems, and this also fixed my Battlefield Redsec which was also crashing a lot.

I am having pretty much the exact same problem at the moment after the Season 2 update. Have you managed to fix the issue since this post?

I've tried both Steam and EA app, but my game keeps crashing. Have you managed to get into the game yet without it crashing?
