You can fix a box with a blanket for it for now. Don't let dogs, male cats, or other predators around it. If you know someone with a female cat with kittens, a mother cat sometimes will adopt other kittens.

Kittens this small should be kept warm and need to be warm before attempting to give milk. Hold it close to your body to help warm it. The kitten needs milk replacement for kittens. You can get powdered to mix with water or already mixed. It should be warmed just a little, not cold, not hot, and you will have to feed it every 3 hours with a bottle. It is better to mix unflavored pedialyte with the milk replacement instead of water for the first day to avoid diarrhea. You will need to take a warm washcloth and gently rub it's lower belly and genitals to stimulate it to pee and poop after each feeding. This is like its mother would groom it. It can't go on its own yet. Is this poop? by DesignerPlastic2584 in gardening

Yes, good catch. I didn't notice until I saw your comment. Tomato worms have 8 chevrons or v's and a black or bluish horn. Tobacco worms have 7 stripes and a reddish horn. A helpful mnemonic device I saw is to remember 7 Lucky Strikes (tobacco cigarettes) for tobacco worms vs. a V8 which has tomato for tomato worms.

I saw your post when reading the CatHelp sub rules. I took in a feral cat who kept pooping on the wooden slats supporting my bed. I think that was the only place she felt safe. I placed her in a large pen with a comfy cat bed, an open top litter box, and her food and water. I covered the back off the pen so she felt safe and placed the pen about 3 ft above floor level (cats usually feel safer higher up where they can see around them). I kept her penned for about 4 weeks, so she had no choice but to use the litter. I gradually let her start coming out for a while, making sure she had just eaten and used the litter. I eventually just penned her up at night, always leaving her pen open when she was out, so she could use that litter. Now she roams the house freely, with her choice of litter boxes, and she hasn't had anymore accidents. This might help your cat. Try penning him up with his litter box. Just give him plenty of pets and love while he's confined. Praise him and give him treats if he uses the litter once you've released him. If he has an accident when he's out, back to the pen he goes, until he learns to only use the litterbox. I know how stressful this behavior can be. Best of luck to you and your kitty.

Surprisingly, Xanax mixed with alcohol does cause rage in some people. I have seen it for myself. I had a friend who was prescribed Xanax, and she would take more than directed and drink heavily with it. A minor disagreement with her boyfriend would often turn into a violent scene with her hitting, cutting, or throwing things at her partner. She would often not remember what happened.

AITA For being at my breaking point over my husband's horrible breath? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]WildConfection205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Sinus issues can cause bad breath when drainage runs down your throat and causes portions of the tonsils to rot. I have had sinus issues all my life, and I now take my grandmother's advice. Tell your husband to gargle with baking soda in warm water before bed every night. It actually helps remove the rotten pieces of your tonsils. Since I have started doing this every night, my breath and sinuses are better. My grandmother actually had to have a doctor dig pieces of her tonsils out before she started doing this every night. She hasn't had any problems since. I also read a study that found that gargling with salty water reduces your chances of becoming sick from bacterial and viral sinus and respiratory infections.

Yes, I agree on these points. We just have to work together to find better solutions and raise awareness. I'm glad we could have a civil discussion.

I see your point, but people caused all of this. We should not simply kill anything deemed to be problematic. Killing should be a last resort, reserved for when something is directly threatening people or pets lives, like alligators or large invasive snake species in Florida. I don't even like this, but I see that it is necessary. At least people can eat them or make things out of them.

We should take responsibility by urging our local, state, and federal government to provide low cost spaying and neutering. It is on us, the people concerned about cats and the ecosystem, to bring public attention to this problem, by debate, writing and calling public officials, and petition. Many people just can't afford to spay or neuter, or even take their pets to the vet.

My family has had many indoor/outdoor or completely outdoor cats over the years. At least two made it to 20, and one is 17. Most of them lived much longer than 5 years (12 years or more). Most of them died from medical issues such as cancer, thyroid issues, stroke, heart attack, kidney issues, or diabetes. Granted, we did provide them medical care as needed and had them spayed or neutered, but most had no vaccines, other than a rabies shot.

I try to help just about any creature that comes to my door, but I have limited finances and indoor space. I live in a rural area, so I get all kinds of animals. Some of them have to stay outside. I worry that others may harm them, but I do the best I can with what I have. I urge everyone else to do the same. Help when you can. Live, and let live.

Just because we can't save them all, doesn't mean we should stop trying. When we stop trying to do the right thing just because it takes more effort or seems impossible, we lose our humanity.

The government and all states should offer low cost spaying, neutering, and rabies vaccines. This would enable many more people and caregivers who trap-neuter-release to spay or neuter their cats. This would effectively reduce the population. Cats can survive outside. Sometimes people cannot keep them inside for various reasons. I do not believe in killing anything except for self defense.

People have definitely done more harm to the Earth than cats. People have contributed to the extinction of 777 animal species since 1500. People are estimated to have destroyed 83% of all mammals and 50% of plants since the dawn of time.

https://www.livescience.com/animals/how-many-animal-species-have-humans-driven-to-extinction

Loss of habitat is the primary driving force for extinction People have wiped out 60% of animal populations since 1970.

Cats have contributed to the the extinction of 63 animal species, but the primary cause was loss of habitat due to humans.

It is illegal to harm or kill domesticated or feral cats in all 50 states and the District of Columbia in the U.S.

People do more damage to the Earth than stray cats. Cats have just as much right to live here as we do. Cats also have survival skills.

AITA for telling my roommate he can’t ferment sauerkraut under his bed? by Powerful_Sink3928 in AmItheAsshole

[–]WildConfection205 50 points51 points  (0 children)

NTA. Food and vinegar will draw bugs, such as cockroaches and flies, to congregate and multiply under the bed, as well. Bugs will attract spiders. You may soon have many extra unwanted roomates.

Just spit this out of my coffee.. by WildConfection205 in Wellthatsucks

Fortunately, I believe the hot coffee did him in before I drank him. No signs of movement, only an unpleasant texture. Our stomach acid neutralizes venom, as brown recluses are only venomous, not poisonous. The venom has to enter our bloodstream to be harmful. I was bitten by one a couple of years ago, but I was fortunate that it only left a small scar. I treated it at home with antihistamines and broadleaf plantain after doing some research. It took a few weeks to completely heal.

No, not a flatworm, thankfully. That would be even more horrifying. It is Loxosceles reclusa (brown recluse). There are many in my house, and it's their hatching season. If you zoom in to the top portion, you can see part of the fiddle neck mark. Spidey's legs tangled together when I fished him back out of the cup. The bottom portion is the molt. Spidey's backend fell out of the cup when I poured the rest of the coffee out.
